Accountabilities:

    As a Lead Instrumentation & Controls Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for nuclear power projects focused on control system upgrades, digital modernization, and engineering execution. You will oversee project activities, support client relationships, and ensure solutions meet technical, safety, and operational requirements.

    • Lead and support small and large instrumentation and controls engineering projects, ensuring effective technical execution and project delivery.
    • Develop digital control system designs involving PLCs, distributed control systems (DCS), touchscreens, network switches, and related automation technologies.
    • Prepare control system functional requirements, implementation specifications, and procurement documentation for nuclear plant systems.
    • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex controls engineering challenges across nuclear power facilities.
    • Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, structural, and other engineering disciplines to successfully complete projects.
    • Interface directly with clients to support project execution, maintain alignment, and ensure customer satisfaction.
    • Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, studies, diagrams, and engineering documentation.
    • Manage project resources, task assignments, estimates, schedules, and budget development activities.
    • Support proposal preparation and business development initiatives.
    • Review engineering drawings and technical documentation for new and upgraded control solutions.
    • Evaluate vendor proposals and technical submissions to ensure compliance with project requirements.
    • Collaborate with vendors through document reviews, equipment evaluations, and factory acceptance testing activities.
    • Support implementation and commissioning activities at client facilities.
    • Lead teams in adopting modern engineering approaches, including automation, data-driven workflows, and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and reduce rework.
    • Requirements:

      The ideal candidate brings extensive instrumentation and controls engineering experience, strong technical leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage complex nuclear engineering projects. You should have experience working with advanced control technologies, regulated environments, and multidisciplinary teams.

      • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
      • 12+ years of experience in instrumentation and controls (I&C) design engineering.
      • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
      • Strong knowledge of control system equipment, automation technologies, and proven engineering solutions.
      • Experience developing and reviewing I&C design documentation, specifications, and technical reports.
      • Demonstrated ability to serve as a client liaison in a lead engineering or project support role.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
      • Experience coordinating engineering activities across multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
      • Ability to manage priorities, resources, schedules, and technical challenges effectively.
      • Experience with engineering automation, scripting, or modern digital tools such as Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel is valued.
      • Familiarity with AI-enabled engineering workflows, process improvement initiatives, or digital transformation approaches is a plus.
      • Ability to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
