Position Summary

The Process Engineering Technician supports the Process Engineering team by developing, implementing, maintaining, and improving manufacturing processes to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role assists with process validation, equipment support, troubleshooting, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives across SMT, through-hole assembly, final assembly, and other manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and passionate about improving manufacturing efficiency while supporting production teams in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Support Process Engineers in developing and implementing manufacturing processes and work instructions.
  • Assist with process validation, new product introductions (NPI), and engineering builds.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing process issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support SMT, through-hole, hand assembly, soldering, conformal coating, inspection, testing, and final assembly processes.
  • Assist with machine setup, process optimization, and equipment qualifications.
  • Monitor process performance using production metrics and quality data.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, visual aids, process flows, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Assist in evaluating new manufacturing equipment, tooling, fixtures, and process technologies.
  • Conduct time studies and process capability evaluations.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to resolve production issues.
  • Support engineering change orders (ECOs) and process implementation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with IPC standards, ESD requirements, and company quality procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Engineering Technology, Electronics, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing or engineering technician experience preferred.
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing, PCB assembly, or SMT environments is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles.
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and ESD practices is preferred.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, assembly documentation, and process specifications.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office and manufacturing software systems.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the production facility.
  • Occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work around automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Manual dexterity for handling electronic components and tooling.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
