This position is located at the Reserve Fleets, Office of Ship Operations, Office of the Deputy Associate Administrator for Federal Sealift, Office of the Associate Administrator for Strategic Sealift, Maritime Administration (MARAD).
As a Marine Machinery Mechanic Leader, you will: Perform direct and general maintenance support during overhaul and repair of ships assigned to the Ready Reserve Force, identifying required repairs, adjustments, and additional maintenance needs beyond initial work specifications. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair propulsion, transmission, rigging, propeller, navigation, and auxiliary systems using specialized testing equipment and measuring instruments. Fabricate, modify, and adapt components and assemblies to restore system functionality when standard repair procedures or replacement parts are unavailable or inadequate. Install, align, and connect engines, propulsion components, controls, and associated fuel, oil, and water systems, ensuring proper operation and compliance with maintenance standards. The ideal candidate for this position should possess the skill set and ability to lead employees involved in performing a wide variety of mechanical services for vessels and craft in the National Defense Reserve Fleet. Work is accomplished on ships within the National Defense Reserve Fleet.
