The purpose of this role is to manage and operate the Outsourced (Offshore) Delegated Underwriting Authorities (DUA) team based in Bratislava. Conduct project work in line with the Delegated Strategy established and set by the Head of Delegated Underwriting, problem case resolution and acting as a subject matter expert to the business within your areas of operation.
Synpulse’s Delegated Underwriting Authority team play a pivotal role in supporting the client’s DUA function, both in conducting daily activities and leading key projects which drive change and efficiencies within the client’s Delegated Underwriting Operations. This role reports into Synpulse’s CoE Director and supports the client’s Delegated Governance and Oversight Manager and Head of Delegated Underwriting.
Key Responsibilities:
Client-facing
- Oversee and coordinate core day to day DUA activities using your technical knowledge.
- Maintain and build core relationships including face to face and remote stakeholder management between internal and external stakeholders drilling down from expertise from function across the business (including claims, finance, compliance, legal and CES).
- Ensure regular alignment with appropriate client teams to ensure understanding of relevant line(es) of business(es) supporting where required with technical knowledge.
- Regular engagement with Underwriting teams to discuss the operation performance of their Coverholders.
- Act as the main escalation point escalation point for client(s) stakeholders.
Team Management
- Day to day instruction, support and management of work as COE DUA Team Lead. Acting as the main point of contact for any queries, allocation and management of tasking within the team and setting objectives which align to Synpulse’s and the Client’s strategy.
- Day to Day oversight and management of the 3rd Party Cover holder Audit process, peer reviewing the teams work in line with our internal controls, build on ways of improving the process and ensuring that reports and recommendations are reviewed and closed off-line with our suite of SLA’s.
- Ensure Client stakeholders’ support around the IT Security Audit process.
- Provide training to the existing team to support learning and development, establishing a training and refresh program and also training new members on the team both onshore and offshore.
Other Responsibilities
- Develop, support and lead various core projects within Delegated Authority and the wider Underwriter Operations community.
- Act as a London Market subject matter expert in managing delegated authorities in various capacities, including training and knowledge transfer within the team and the wider business and engaging with project teams and broader areas of the business where required.
- Partner with the client’s Delegated Data and Operations manager regarding Bordereaux and Cover-holder Data to help support discussions with your internal and external stakeholders and your role as a Business Partner.
Candidate Requirements
- University degree (progress towards insurance certifications is considered a plus)
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant (re)insurance industry experience, ideally related to delegated underwriting authority business;
- English language proficiency (C1 or above)
- Experience supervising and developing others
- Ability to work flexibly to complete duties of the role, particularly during peak periods
- Working knowledge of relevant trends and information within the insurance industry (London market insurance knowledge is a plus)
- Technical and/or analytic expertise that can be adapted to current technologies
- Proven ability to prioritise and organise effectively and work with speed and accuracy, as part of a cross-functional team
- Experience supporting work allocation and working to SLAs / deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, partners and internal teams
- Ability to train andmentorteam-members to support learning and development
- Process transformation and control improvement experience is a definite plus
