Accountabilities:
- Lead the design and delivery of multi-cloud cell placement and orchestration systems supporting a cell-based infrastructure architecture.
- Build, mentor, and grow engineering teams responsible for architecture, implementation, and production operations.
- Define technical strategies for infrastructure scalability, portability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Drive infrastructure cost visibility and optimization by partnering with finance and engineering teams.
- Own reliability practices, including operational excellence, incident management, on-call processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with platform teams across infrastructure, CI/CD, developer tooling, and AI-focused areas to support future scalability needs.
- Define architectural approaches for cross-cloud routing, data residency, and infrastructure portability.
- Develop platform capabilities and internal tools that simplify deployment and enable engineering teams to build efficiently.
- Represent the team in cross-functional planning and contribute to broader infrastructure strategy.
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems in production environments.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems fundamentals, including consistency models, partitioning, sharding, failure scenarios, and multi-region or multi-cloud architectures.
- Experience owning highly reliable systems, including incident response, on-call practices, and site reliability engineering principles.
- Experience leading engineering teams in distributed or remote environments.
- Ability to hire, mentor, and develop engineers, including senior individual contributors and engineering managers.
- Experience building platform capabilities, infrastructure products, or developer tools used by other engineering teams.
- Ability to define technical direction and execute in ambiguous, early-stage environments.
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure platforms, multi-cloud systems, FinOps practices, AI-supporting infrastructure, or major architecture transformations is a plus.
