About the Job:
The Red Hat Engineering teams are looking for Senior Software Engineers to join our Core Platforms Engineering group. In this role, you will focus on Network Filesystems technologies on Linux, ensuring the performance, stability, and security of the operating system and our customers’ data.
The Network Filesystems team maintains NFS, CIFS, and similar network filesystems within Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). We work extensively with upstream communities to maintain the kernel systems and associated utility components which support these vital, highly complex features. Your work will span the development, maintenance, and testing of these components, as well as close collaboration with other teams both within Red Hat and the wider Linux community.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will have the chance to work with some of the brightest engineers in the open-source industry while acting as an advocate for our customers. We need you to have excellent technical and creative thinking skills, as you'll be encouraged to develop innovative solutions to technical issues on a daily basis. This position is a great opportunity to make a difference in the Linux operating system space while working on solutions used by people around the world.
What you will do:
Play an active part in upstream and downstream projects related to the team you are in
Working in the Agile Scrum methodology,
take end-to-end ownership of specific areas including upstream development, downstream validation and packaging, L3 troubleshooting and support.
take shared responsibility around problem resolution, ongoing quality engineering, as well as handling vulnerabilities and other backports targeted at released versions.
What you will bring:
Experience of maintaining software written in C
Familiarity with Linux networking and/or filesystems.
An ability to prioritize multiple tasks based on importance.
A proactive approach to working with multiple teams.
Experience with git and Open Source working practices etc.
The following are considered a plus:
Previous experience collaborating with Open-Source communities like the Linux kernel - esp file systems and storage
Public code contributions, Speaking opportunities at conferences, Blogs or articles published
