Job Profile Title: Software Engineer in Test III
Business Title: Software Engineer in Test III
Position Overview
As a Software Engineer in Test III, you are expected to independently own the quality strategy for multiple features and applications while driving improvements across automation, performance, documentation, and engineering practices.
You will work closely with Software Engineers, Product Managers, Technical Architects, and other Quality Engineers to identify quality risks early, build scalable testing solutions, and improve engineering efficiency through automation and thoughtful use of AI-assisted development tools.
Beyond feature testing, you will influence engineering quality by mentoring junior engineers, improving testing frameworks, and continuously identifying opportunities to strengthen product reliability.
Responsibilities

Independently own quality strategy for multiple applications and major initiatives.

Develop and maintain comprehensive quality plans that evolve alongside changing requirements.

Review technical designs and architecture documents, identifying functional, integration, security, scalability, and performance risks before implementation.

Design and implement scalable automation frameworks, utilities, and reusable testing infrastructure.

Drive end-to-end testing strategy across functional, integration, regression, performance, security, and system-level testing.

Lead root-cause investigations for production defects and recurring automation failures.

Continuously improve overnight test execution, automation stability, and engineering quality metrics.

Build and maintain performance testing infrastructure capable of simulating customer-scale workloads.

Optimize automated tests through reusable test data, modular design, and improved execution efficiency.

Partner with developers to improve application testability and reduce future defects.

Mentor Software Engineers in Test I and II through code reviews, design reviews, and technical guidance.

Evaluate AI-generated code, automation, and documentation to ensure correctness, maintainability, and security before adoption.

Identify process improvements that reduce manual effort while improving software quality.
Required Skills

3-5 years of software quality engineering or test automation experience.

Strong Java programming experience.

Extensive experience building automation frameworks.

Experience with distributed systems and enterprise applications.

Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills.

Experience performance testing large-scale applications.

Excellent written and verbal communication.

Demonstrated ability to independently drive complex testing initiatives.
