ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY
Black & McDonald’s Facility Management & Operations team is expanding! We are seeking committed, collaborative professionals who are eager to contribute to a hardworking and innovative team. We currently have an Icehouse Manager position available in the Ottawa, Ontario area.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Operate Registered Ice Plant
- Perform rounds
- Take ice plant readings
- Report findings and issues to Chief of Plant
- Schedule maintenance with service provider
- Adjust set points and schedule to maintain ice surface
Icehouse Management
- Monitor 2 ice surfaces and direct staff to maintain and perform maintenance
- Plan ice maintenance within the ice rental schedules
- Train icehouse staff
- Create and maintain staffing schedules. Icehouse is open 18 hours/day – 362 days per year.
- Liaise with client and Welcome Desk
- Assist with project planned for the facility
- Coordinate and complete annual ice removal and reinstatement
- Coordinate the maintenance of three ice resurface machines (Olympia and Zamboni)
- Occasionally answer after-hours calls from staff
- Assist with maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems in the facility.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Refrigeration B License – TSSA
- ORFA Certified Ice Technician
- ORFA Aqua Operator (optional)
- Ice Resurface Machine Driver
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 5-10 years in ice surface maintenance and care.
The expected salary range for this role is between $80,000 - $100,000 per year. The starting salary will be determined based on several factors such as the successful candidate’s qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Base pay is one component of Black & McDonald’s total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual discretionary bonus, career development programs, and other HR programs.
