Senior Outbound Immigration Advisor

Position Summary

Manage Immigration process for short-term programs. Deliver immigration services for a specific population within the Office of Global Services (i.e., US and foreign national students and scholars studying or working abroad) to permit lawful entry into the country in which the individual will be studying or working. Advise on opportunities, rights and responsibilities under the law and refer to other University departments, attorneys, or governmental agencies as necessary. Counsel international students/scholars/employees on all personal, health, social, cultural, financial, and immigration matters related to their stay within the appropriate portal campus or Global Academic Center within the NYU 'Global Network University'. Collaborate with staff, schools, departments, and outside organizations (including embassies, consulates, vendors, and consultants) to provide information on immigration/mobility requirements and procedures.

Qualifications

Required Education:Bachelor's Degree in management, Communications, Business, Education, or Liberal Arts Preferred Education:Master's Degree in cross-cultural communication, counseling, or area of cultural studies, foreign language, TESOL. Required Experience:2+ years of relevant immigration regulations advisement and compliance experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience teaching/training/presenting. Preferred Experience:3+ years administering immigration and/or study abroad advising in a higher education setting. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Knowledge of immigration and exchange visitor requirements for multiple global locations. Ability to communicate effectively with people from different cultural backgrounds; excellent organizational, interpersonal and written and oral communication skills. Student centric mindset, self-starter with creative thinking, ability to see both long term and immediate picture, ability to prioritize without direction. Computer literacy. Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Fluency in at least one non-English language; experience living and/or working abroad. Knowledge of emerging markets, strong international mobility and/or immigration skill-set. Familiarity with Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Web-based applications, including Google tools and People Soft.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $77,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
