We are looking for an experienced Storage Embedded Firmware Engineer with 10–18 years of expertise in developing firmware for HDD, SSD, or storage devices. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Storage Embedded Firmware, with hands-on experience in FTL, SAS, SATA, and storage firmware architecture. This role focuses on middle-layer and backend firmware development, requiring expertise in designing high-performance, reliable, and scalable storage solutions.
You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to develop, optimize, and maintain firmware components, contribute to product architecture, and deliver enterprise-grade storage solutions. Candidates with Storage Networking backgrounds are not suitable for this role.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance embedded firmware for HDD, SSD, and storage devices.
- Develop and optimize middle-layer and backend firmware components for storage systems.
- Implement and maintain firmware features supporting FTL, SAS, SATA, and Flash storage technologies.
- Design robust algorithms and firmware architectures to improve storage performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Develop software using C++, with additional scripting support using Python, Perl, Shell, Lua, or similar languages.
- Collaborate with hardware, validation, and system teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Create and maintain software design documentation, including Software Requirement Specifications (SRS) and Software Design Documents (SDD).
- Debug complex firmware issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.
- Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to software development best practices, coding standards, and SDLC processes.
- Support firmware validation, testing, and integration activities to ensure high-quality product releases.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- 10+ years of experience in Storage Embedded Firmware development.
- Strong hands-on experience with HDD Firmware, SSD Firmware, or Storage Firmware development.
- Expertise in FTL, SAS, SATA, and Flash storage technologies.
- Proven experience in middle-layer or backend firmware development.
- Strong programming skills in C++; experience with C is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Shell, or Lua.
- Strong understanding of system architecture, processor architecture, object-oriented design, and data structures.
- Experience designing complex algorithms and delivering firmware for enterprise-grade storage products.
- Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Linux or Windows device drivers is desirable.
- Exposure to hardware architecture, SoC design, or firmware simulation using MATLAB is an added advantage.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams.
