Overview The Simulation Operations Manager provides operational leadership for the Riverside Simulation Training Lab (RSTL), functioning as enterprise clinical infrastructure supporting workforce readiness, patient safety, accreditation compliance, and interprofessional education. In partnership with the RSTL Medical Director and simulation education leadership, this role establishes and oversees centralized operational governance to ensure efficient, scalable, and sustainable delivery of simulation-based education aligned with organizational strategic priorities. This position holds primary responsibility for operational management of the simulation lab, including budget oversight and financial stewardship, procurement and vendor management, inventory and supply chain coordination, and comprehensive equipment lifecycle oversight, including maintenance, service agreements, and technology infrastructure planning. The Simulation Operations Manager designs, implements, and continuously improves operational workflows, monitors resource utilization, and develops systems that support long-term sustainability and enterprise growth. The Simulation Operations Manager provides direct supervision and leadership to assigned simulation staff, fostering accountability, role clarity, professional development, and high-performance operational standards aligned with Riverside's mission and quality goals. Additionally, this role oversees operational infrastructure supporting the Simulation Leadership Development Fellowship program, ensuring sustainable program workflows, milestone tracking, and integration with institutional priorities. Serving as a key operational liaison, the Simulation Operations Manager collaborates with simulation educators, clinical leadership, Graduate Medical Education, interdisciplinary departments, and institutional administrative offices to align operational infrastructure with educational objectives and enterprise initiatives. The role ensures compliance with accreditation standards and simulation best practices while advancing data-informed decision-making through performance analytics and operational reporting. What you will do Operational Governance & Simulation Operations Leadership • Provide operational leadership for the Riverside Simulation Training Lab ensuring efficient, scalable delivery of simulation-based education. • Establish and maintain operational governance frameworks, policies, and standardized workflows. • Oversee enterprise scheduling governance, space utilization, and logistical coordination. • Lead development and continuous improvement of operational processes supporting program sustainability. • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safety standards, and national healthcare simulation best practices. • Serve as operational escalation lead for complex simulation activities and resource coordination. • Develop operational strategy aligned with organizational growth and simulation program expansion. Resource Stewardship & Financial Management • Lead operational budget planning, forecasting, and resource stewardship for simulation operations. • Direct purchasing processes, vendor selection, and procurement activities in accordance with organizational policies. • Manage supply chain processes, including inventory tracking and replenishment of simulation equipment and consumables. • Oversee equipment lifecycle management, including maintenance scheduling, warranty coordination, service agreements, and vendor communications. • Support financial stewardship initiatives to ensure sustainable resource utilization. Simulation Technology & Equipment Lifecycle Management • Oversee lifecycle management of simulation equipment, technology infrastructure, and audiovisual systems. • Coordinate maintenance schedules, service agreements, and vendor relationships. • Collaborate with IT and simulation education leadership on technology integration and innovation. • Lead evaluation and implementation of emerging simulation technologies supporting operational scalability. Staff Leadership & Workforce Development • Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and performance management for assigned simulation staff. • Support onboarding, training, professional development, and workforce planning. • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing operational team culture. • Establish operational role clarity, workforce planning strategy, and performance expectations aligned with enterprise goals. Strategic Collaboration & Enterprise Integration • Serve as operational leader collaborating with clinical, academic, and enterprise stakeholders. • Align operational infrastructure with educational objectives and enterprise strategic initiatives. • Support accreditation readiness through coordination of operational documentation and processes. Data Analytics & Performance Improvement • Develop and maintain operational dashboards and performance metrics. • Track utilization data, resource allocation, and operational efficiency indicators. • Drive data-informed decision-making through analytics and performance monitoring. • Identify opportunities for operational optimization and continuous improvement. Simulation Leadership Development Fellowship Operational Support • Oversee operational infrastructure supporting the Simulation Leadership Development Fellowship. • Coordinate program logistics, scheduling, milestone tracking, and administrative workflows. • Support development of sustainable processes ensuring long-term program success. • Facilitate communication between fellowship leadership and institutional stakeholders. Qualifications Education Bachelors Degree, Healthcare Administration, Health Professions Education, Simulation Operations, Business Administration, Educational Technology, Organizational Leadership, or related field (Required) Masters Degree, Healthcare Administration, Education, Organizational Leadership, Business Administration, or related discipline (Preferred) Experience 3-4 years Progressive operational leadership experience in healthcare operations, simulation operations, clinical education infrastructure, academic program operations, or comparable enterprise environment (Required) 1 year Operational governance experience - Experience designing workflows, managing complex operational systems, or leading program infrastructure at scale (Required) 1 year Supervisory/people leadership experience - Demonstrated leadership of professional or technical teams (Required) 1 year Healthcare or academic medical environment - Experience within healthcare systems, simulation programs, or graduate medical education environments (Preferred) 1 year Strategic planning or enterprise initiative experience - Participation in cross-departmental initiatives or organizational strategy implementation (Preferred) Skills and Abilities Advanced knowledge of healthcare simulation operations and program infrastructure. Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and optimize operational systems and governance structures. Strong financial stewardship including budgeting, forecasting, and resource optimization. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing operational complexity. Advanced problem-solving and systems-thinking capabilities. Ability to influence across organizational levels and lead cross-functional initiatives. Knowledge of accreditation standards (ACGME, SSH, INACSL) and operational compliance frameworks. Technology fluency including simulation platforms, audiovisual systems, and enterprise scheduling tools. Data-driven decision-making and operational analytics expertise. Ability to function in a dynamic healthcare environment requiring strategic thinking and operational agility. Occasional evening or weekend support aligned with simulation program needs. Commitment to maintaining knowledge of emerging simulation technologies and industry best practices.
