We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support the design, integration, verification, and acceptance of Combat Systems. The role will lead major engineering reviews throughout the system lifecycle, including peer reviews, preliminary and detailed design reviews, and test readiness reviews.

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will provide technical leadership during Combat System installation and set-to-work activities and lead formal shore- and platform-based verification programs. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure system performance, compliance, and delivery objectives are achieved.

As a Senior Systems Engineer in the In-Service Integrated Project Team, you will support the development, integration, and certification of Australia's Submarine Combat System. Working closely with key stakeholders, you will help deliver innovative technologies to the submarine fleet.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Combat System design and integration activities.
  • Provide engineering support of Installation and Set To work activities of the Combat System.
  • Lead shore and platform formal verification activities with key stakeholders.
  • Support the production of Design Certification against top level system specifications.
  • Technical risk analysis.
  • Running major reviews throughout the lifecycle, including peer reviews, preliminary and detailed design reviews and test readiness reviews.
  • Mentor junior team members to build team skills in systems engineering methodology, as well as the required tools and procedures


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in relevant Engineering disciplines.in Systems Engineering involving one or more of the following: requirements definition, requirements management, analysis, design, integration and verification in one or more of the following engineering fields: Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Communication, Software and/or Combat/RF Systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders at client, peer, supplier and senior leadership levels.
  • Knowledge of project management milestones coupled with the ability to work autonomously or with minimal supervision to deliver completed work according to scheduled commitments.
  • Available to undertake travel where necessary to meet requirements of the role.
  • Applicants must be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to Negative Vetting 1 level.

Desirable

  • Experience working within defence or a highly regulated industry.
  • Experience with Microsoft and Atlassian tool suites (Teams, JIRA, Confluence, etc).
  • Experience in ILS, Production, Systems Safety and Configuration Management.
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of PLM tools.
  • Experience with scientific or engineering documentation and test engineering processes and procedures.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems, networking and technical problem solving.
  • Eligibility to hold Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) standing and a level of Design Authority delegation to support system Design Certification activities
