Accountabilities:
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing engineering team focused on Git-based infrastructure, platform operations, and reliability.
- Own production reliability for core repository management services across self-managed, dedicated, and SaaS environments.
- Drive incident management processes, root cause analysis, and post-incident improvements with a deep understanding of distributed systems and infrastructure behavior.
- Design and evolve service models that support different deployment environments while maintaining consistency and operational efficiency.
- Define cloud-agnostic architecture strategies and avoid unnecessary dependency on specific infrastructure providers.
- Partner with engineering teams responsible for different deployment models to maintain aligned operational standards and practices.
- Apply distributed systems expertise, including concepts such as replication, consistency, scalability, and failure management.
- Lead storage and compute strategies for large-scale repository data, including capacity planning, scalability improvements, and resource optimization.
- Promote operational excellence through automation, monitoring, reliability improvements, and continuous engineering evolution.
- Proven experience leading engineering, platform, infrastructure, or site reliability teams.
- Strong hands-on understanding of Git internals, including Git protocols, object models, storage mechanisms, and performance behavior under scale.
- Experience operating production infrastructure across multiple environments, such as SaaS, dedicated, self-managed, or hybrid deployments.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems fundamentals, including replication, consistency models, failure handling, and horizontal scalability.
- Experience designing and operating scalable storage and compute solutions for high-volume workloads.
- Familiarity with Git implementation technologies such as Gitaly, libgit2, JGit, or similar systems is highly desirable.
- Experience managing teams focused on reliability engineering, infrastructure operations, or platform engineering.
- Ability to make architectural decisions in complex technical environments while balancing reliability, scalability, and operational needs.
- Experience working with cloud-agnostic infrastructure across multiple cloud providers or on-premises environments is a plus.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering teams.
