The Oiler is responsible for supporting the daily operation and maintenance of the vessel's engine room while ensuring compliance with safety, operational, and environmental standards. Key responsibilities include:
- Assist the Engineer on duty in monitoring and operating the vessel's main engine, auxiliary engines, generators, and other machinery to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Perform routine lubrication, equipment inspections, and preventive maintenance while reporting any abnormalities or technical issues promptly to the Engineer.
- Support bunkering operations, emergency response activities, and engine room watchkeeping in compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper inventory of engine room equipment, spare parts, and machinery to ensure operational readiness.
- Ensure compliance with company SOPs, STCW requirements, and safety regulations while supporting the Chief Engineer and Engineer in maintaining optimal vessel performance.
Requirements
- Hold a valid Basic Level Marine Engineering Expert (Rating Certificate).
- Possess valid Basic Safety Training (BST) and Seaman's Book certificates.
- Hold a valid Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (SCRB) certificate.
- Possess a valid Advanced Fire Fighting (AFF) certificate.
- Hold Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (SDSD) and Medical First Aid (MEFA) certificates (SDSD may be required depending on the vessel).
