About the Role

The Salesforce Data Steward is a data-focused role for someone who combines strong governance instincts with hands-on Salesforce know-how and a practical understanding of how CRM data supports the business.

You will work closely with Sales Operations, Marketing, Finance, and the Salesforce admin team to maintain data standards, resolve quality issues, and support the platform as it scales. You'll help define what "good" data looks like, keep it that way through audits and remediation, and make sure new fields, objects, and integrations don't undermine the integrity of the system.

This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, process-minded, and comfortable moving between operational teams and technical stakeholders. You should be able to spot a data quality issue at a glance, explain why it matters in business terms, and work with others to fix it at the root.

Key Responsibilities

Data Governance & Quality

  • Maintain and enforce data governance standards and naming conventions across Salesforce.
  • Monitor data quality through dashboards, reports, and audits; identify and resolve data integrity issues.
  • Manage duplicate remediation, including merging, cleansing, and standardization.
  • Manage data bulk uploads on behalf of business teams.

Operational Stewardship

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for data-related questions, issues, and escalations.
  • Support Salesforce Admins by validating new fields, objects, and workflows for data consistency.
  • Ensure that integrations and data imports follow governance rules and maintain system integrity.
  • Document and maintain data dictionaries, process maps, and governance guidelines.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Sales Operations, Marketing, and Finance teams to understand data needs and ensure alignment.
  • Work with the Salesforce team to support enhancements, releases, and system changes.
  • Train end users on data best practices, proper usage of Salesforce fields, and data hygiene expectations.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Build and maintain reports and dashboards that monitor data quality and business KPIs.
  • Analyze trends in data issues and recommend process improvements.

Who You Are

  • A data steward first, you understand why clean, consistent data matters and take pride in keeping it that way.
  • Detail-oriented and analytical, with a knack for spotting patterns and root causes behind data issues.
  • Comfortable working across Sales Operations, Marketing, Finance, and technical teams.
  • Skilled at translating data problems into clear, practical guidance for non-technical users.
  • Energised by governance, process improvement, and the moments when better data leads to better decisions.
  • Able to manage competing priorities and stay effective as the platform evolves.
  • Collaborative and pragmatic, someone who wants to solve problems with colleagues, not just enforce rules.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of data governance practices, data modeling, and CRM best practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to train and influence non-technical users.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage competing priorities.

Nice to Have

  • Basic working knowledge of Salesforce.
  • Basic querying skills, including SQL and Salesforce reporting.
  • Experience with data quality tools such as DemandTools.
  • Background in sales operations, marketing operations, or customer success operations.
