Accountabilities:

    The Director, Remote Operations Control Center (ROCC) will oversee remote operational activities, lead a multidisciplinary team, and ensure renewable energy assets operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards.

    • Provide strategic leadership and mentorship to a 24/7 Remote Operations team, including command/control and monitoring/maintenance functions.
    • Establish operational priorities and ensure alignment between remote operations, field service, engineering, reliability, and maintenance teams.
    • Lead initiatives related to control testing, SCADA systems, asset monitoring, and operational technology improvements.
    • Coordinate with real-time market operations teams to optimize asset performance and financial outcomes.
    • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to identify issues, analyze performance data, and support corrective actions.
    • Ensure operational activities comply with safety requirements, regulatory expectations, and internal standards.
    • Develop and implement protocols, procedures, and best practices for wind, solar, and battery storage operations.
    • Promote continuous improvement through operational tools, processes, and performance monitoring strategies.
    • Support the safety of personnel and equipment through effective operational controls and risk management practices.
    • Manage cross-functional projects and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Drive team development, operational excellence, and a culture of accountability and safety.
    • Requirements:

      The ideal candidate is an experienced operations leader with extensive knowledge of power systems, renewable energy operations, and team management.

      • High school diploma, technical degree, or equivalent education combined with relevant leadership and operational experience.
      • Minimum of 10 years of experience in real-time operations within the electricity or thermal energy sector, including generation, transmission, or distribution.
      • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing teams in an operational environment.
      • Proven experience leading teams, managing complex projects, and coordinating cross-functional initiatives.
      • Strong understanding of power system operations, including voltage control, automatic generation control, system operating limits, and protection systems.
      • Experience with asset switching, isolation procedures, and operational control responsibilities.
      • Extensive experience with SCADA integration, troubleshooting, and operational technology systems.
      • Knowledge of safety practices such as Lock-out-Tag-out (LOTO).
      • Familiarity with compliance requirements and operational standards for North American power generation facilities.
      • Experience with performance monitoring, maintenance coordination, and reliability improvement initiatives.
      • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and prioritization skills.
      • Ability to work from the Houston, Texas area with regular presence at the office.
      • Ability and willingness to travel domestically up to 25%, including overnight trips.
