Accountabilities:

    The Associate Director - OPEN Learner Engagement will provide strategic and operational leadership for learner engagement activities, ensuring effective program delivery, strong partner relationships, and alignment with organizational and donor requirements.

    • Lead and manage learner engagement functions, including participant support, enrollment management, alumni community platforms, social media engagement, content strategies, and digital systems.
    • Develop and implement strategies that support sustainable growth, learner participation, and long-term community engagement.
    • Ensure program activities comply with donor regulations, organizational policies, reporting requirements, and quality standards.
    • Partner with program leadership and cross-functional teams to establish effective processes for budgeting, risk management, knowledge sharing, and operational efficiency.
    • Mentor and support team members through coaching, professional development opportunities, and collaborative learning practices.
    • Serve as a key contributor to program planning, business development activities, and new funding opportunities.
    • Analyze program data, document lessons learned, and share insights to improve future initiatives and reporting.
    • Manage relationships with universities, nonprofit organizations, vendors, consultants, and other external partners.
    • Support proposal development, donor engagement, and strategic initiatives related to online learning and professional development programs.
    • Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement across remote teams.
    • Provide leadership support for complex program challenges, operational decisions, and emerging priorities.
    • Requirements:

      The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in international education, online learning programs, and team leadership, with the ability to manage complex initiatives across global and multicultural environments.

      • Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent in Education, Communications, International Development, Knowledge Management, Human Development, TESOL, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
      • 10+ years of relevant experience managing projects, programs, or online education initiatives, including at least 3 years of direct people management experience.
      • Experience working within a nonprofit, international development, or donor-funded environment.
      • Proven experience managing remote teams and collaborating across geographically distributed organizations.
      • Strong understanding of online learning platforms, learner engagement systems, communities of practice, digital content delivery tools, and social media platforms.
      • Experience developing engagement strategies that grow online communities and professional learning networks.
      • Knowledge of donor requirements, reporting processes, contracting practices, and program compliance standards.
      • Experience managing partnerships with vendors, consultants, universities, subawardees, or other external organizations.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent programs to partners, funders, and professional audiences.
      • Ability to navigate cultural differences and work effectively in international environments.
      • Experience with project management tools such as Monday.com or Jira preferred.
      • Familiarity with learning management systems, digital badging, open content licensing, and basic HTML is a plus.
      • Benefits:

        • Competitive annual salary range of approximately $110,000 - $130,000 USD, depending on experience, education, location, and other factors.
        • Employer contribution of 7% of monthly base pay to a retirement pension plan.
