Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Educator RN, Medical Surgical Surgery Telemetry, In accordance with our mission and core values of integrity, compassion, collaboration, and excellence, this position is established to serve as a consultant/resource professional by providing staff development expertise as an educator, facilitator, change agent, leader and researcher, ensuring all educational initiatives are strategically aligned with the Medical Surgical/Telemetry departments operational goals and facility leadership priorities. The Medical Surgical/Telemetry Educator supports the development of the direct-care nurse and fosters nursing excellence through new knowledge and the delivery of evidence based practice. Facilitation of the educational process includes assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment, continuing education and leadership development, in close collaboration with the Medical Surgical/Telemetry Leadership Team. The Clinical Nurse Educator also serves as a role model for professional behavior. Teamwork is a vital component of patient care; therefore, incumbents will be expected to demonstrate their commitment through effective collaborative efforts.Every day, you will leverage your expertise to provide individualized, comprehensive care, making critical assessments, performing skilled procedures, and meticulously implementing patient care plans.   • Assesses educational needs through various formal and informal methods, in close consultation with the Medical Surgical/Telemetry Management teams and staff, ensuring alignment with departmental priorities and challenges. Conducts evaluations of all projects and initiatives for desired outcomes, sharing findings and proposing revisions to the Medical Surgical/Telemetry facility leadership teams. Revises future work goals, methods and processes to support evidence-based practice and quality care in collaboration with market leadership. Ensures educational activities are congruent with nursing strategies, goals, values and vision and are tailored to meet the specific needs and operational mandates of the MedicalSurgical/Telemetry departments and facility and market leaders.
  • Annually conducts educational needs assessment using a variety of methods, presenting findings and proposed educational plans to the Medical Surgical/Telemetry leadership team for feedback and approval.
  • Evaluates educational projects based on system needs and agreed upon outcome criteria. Regularly communicates progress and outcomes to the Medical Surgical/Telemetry leadership team and reports broader outcomes to the Market Chief Nurses.
  • Collaborate with the market leaders of Medical Surgical/Telemetry to ensure 100% implementation of all MST safety initiatives, and other identified patient safety projects.
  • Report timely status on ED safety initiatives to the Chief nurses, Directors of Medical Surgical/Telemetry Services, Patient Safety, and Clinical Risk Management leadership.
  • Review data and processes to evaluate compliance with MST safety initiatives, regulatoryrequirements, and hospital policies.
  • Support the market in the roll-out of MST safety projects and goals, reporting results and providing necessary training.
  • Develop, implement, and facilitate learning opportunities and drills for the MST, including topics such as Mock Codes, disaster preparedness, and critical incident simulations.

 

Job Requirements

Required:

  • Current and Active CA Registered Nurse
  • Bachelors of Nursing 
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience
  • AHA Basic Life Support
