Duties: Design, develop, and test software applications. Design, develop, and/or test software applications using company technology stack. Apply technical knowledge to evaluate complex data, developments, and projects in order to provide recommendations to resolve technical issues. Support the company's business operations and improve engineering productivity. Build software components that can be integrated into a fully functional software system. Solve production issues in product and system reliability. Design system architecture, own key components to deliver a centralized metric system for Uber. Join on call rotation, driving continuous improvements on system availability, scalability, performance and efficiency. Provide technical leadership, influence fellow engineers and role model solid engineering practices. Collaborate with other infrastructure teams, production engineer team and product manager to drive adoption and best practices, and to design and implement high impact, cross-product features. May telecommute.
Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (Any), Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, or related field, and two years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.
Position requires:
- Object-oriented programming experience in one or more modern languages (Go, Java, or Python);
- Relational database systems and SQL-based data management;
- Implementing data processing logic and algorithms;
- Designing and developing distributed enterprise systems;
- Debugging and production support for live systems;
- Monitoring system performance and reliability;
- Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC);
- Version control systems (Git or SVN).
