Accountabilities:

As a Senior Product Engineer, you will take ownership of medium-to-large engineering initiatives within financial operations systems, contributing to architecture decisions, technical excellence, and the evolution of engineering practices. You will combine hands-on development with mentorship and cross-team collaboration to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

• Own and deliver medium-to-large financial systems projects end-to-end, from technical design and implementation through production deployment.
• Build and maintain critical payment, billing, and financial operations infrastructure supporting business workflows at scale.
• Develop deep technical expertise in financial systems, integrations, and operational processes to become a trusted technical partner.
• Design and implement backend solutions including APIs, data models, asynchronous processing, and scalable system architectures.
• Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical decisions within the engineering organization.
• Improve engineering quality by leading initiatives related to testing standards, documentation, code reviews, and development practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and support their technical growth through guidance, feedback, and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with product, operations, and engineering stakeholders to define solutions for complex and sometimes ambiguous challenges.
• Ensure system reliability by implementing robust integrations, error handling strategies, and data integrity practices.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced backend-focused engineer who combines strong technical skills with ownership, communication, and leadership abilities. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where engineers have significant influence over architecture, processes, and product outcomes.

• Strong backend engineering experience with API design, database modeling, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience with backend technologies such as Python and Django is a plus.
• Advanced PostgreSQL knowledge, including query optimization, schema design, migrations, and data integrity patterns.
• Experience building and maintaining third-party integrations, ideally within payments, billing, or financial systems.
• Strong understanding of reliability patterns such as failure handling, retries, and idempotency.
• Proven experience owning complex projects from conception to delivery, including technical tradeoffs and cross-functional coordination.
• Ability to influence architecture and engineering practices beyond individual project responsibilities.
• Experience mentoring engineers and helping improve team technical standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate ambiguity with autonomy.
• Interest in high-growth environments where ownership, speed, and continuous improvement are highly valued.

Nice to have:

• Experience with financial technology products or payment platforms.
• Familiarity with modern frontend technologies such as React, TypeScript, or Next.js.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Experience with GraphQL, Hasura, CI/CD pipelines, and GitHub-based development workflows.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering productivity practices.
