Maintenance Supervisor
Position Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for coordinating all plant maintenance activities and providing leadership to a team of approximately 15 maintenance technicians. This role supports the Maintenance Manager in overseeing maintenance operations, ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing production downtime, and maintaining a safe, clean, and compliant work environment. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for developing a highly skilled and motivated team while ensuring adherence to SQF, GMP, safety, and company policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, evaluate, and train a team of maintenance technicians.
- Coordinate daily maintenance activities to support continuous production operations.
- Monitor equipment performance and implement strategies to reduce machine downtime.
- Troubleshoot and assist with the repair of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, plumbing, and PLC-related equipment issues.
- Develop, implement, and maintain preventive maintenance programs for plant equipment and facilities.
- Respond quickly and effectively to equipment failures to minimize operational disruptions.
- Promote and maintain a strong "Safety First" culture throughout the maintenance department.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety requirements, SQF standards, and GMP practices.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and management teams to achieve operational goals.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent training preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and at least five (5) years of related experience in a food manufacturing environment will be considered.
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a maintenance leadership role with direct supervisory responsibilities.
- Proven experience directing, evaluating, coaching, and developing maintenance technicians.
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, plumbing, and PLC systems.
- Experience developing and managing preventive maintenance programs.
- Ability to diagnose equipment issues and coordinate repairs efficiently.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Experience with SAP is preferred.
Communication Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with technicians, management, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Work Schedule
- Wednesday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Thursday – Saturday: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Additional weekend or extended hours may be required based on business needs.
