The Wage and Hour Division (WHD) protects the rights of the nation's workers through enforcement, compliance, and education/ information programs. The Division of Training and Education is responsible for planning, developing and revising courses, self- instructional courses, instructional guides, outreach materials, web-based and computer-based training, and administrative and enforcement manuals. This position is inside the bargaining unit.
As a Wage and Hour Specialist (Training), you will perform the following duties which are not all-inclusive: Analyze performance challenges in assigned program areas through document analysis, observation, interviews and surveys to identify possible knowledge and skill deficiencies and propose learning objectives to eliminate prioritized deficiencies. Develop and coordinate efforts to provide a uniform and consistent approach for training-related initiatives. Develop and draft effective "plain language" written presentations, briefing papers and talking points. Prepare responses to training-related inquiries from Agency personnel. Prepare educational and explanatory materials. Design and conduct performance tests and other evaluation studies to measure the increase in skills and improve program performance resulting from training and development courses. Monitor progress on meeting training requirements within annual performance plans. Plan and develop complex assignments and training initiatives related to prospective policy changes.
