You will lead Patient Access staff and ensure the accurate and timely completion of admission, registration, pre-registration, and insurance verification processes across Presbyterian Health System (PHS).

Responsibilities:

As a Supervisor Patient Access you will help with hiring, scheduling, assigning work, and ensuring appropriate staffing coverage across multiple registration areas.

This leadership role offers flexibility and variety while supporting operations across three Presbyterian facilities: Kaseman, Rust, and Presbyterian Hospital.

The Patient Access Supervisor must be available to provide operational oversight and support across all shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • Ensure successful onboarding and training for new team members and provide ongoing coaching and development to support performance and job proficiency.

  • Manage employee performance and accountability, including conducting regular one-on-one meetings, providing feedback, addressing attendance concerns, and implementing corrective action plans when necessary.

  • Monitor departmental productivity, quality, and compliance standards, ensuring adherence to organizational policies and regulatory requirements, including CMS, EMTALA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission standards.

  • Oversee patient registration, admission, pre-registration, and insurance verification processes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and a positive patient experience.

  • Analyze operational and productivity metrics, identify trends and opportunities for improvement, and partner with leadership to implement action plans that optimize workflow and resource utilization.

  • Support revenue cycle performance by monitoring work queues, billing-related reports, denial trends, and documentation standards to promote clean claims and timely reimbursement.

  • Foster strong customer service and professional relationships with patients, providers, clinical teams, and community stakeholders while promptly addressing service recovery opportunities and complaints.

  • Promote staff engagement, professional growth, and succession planning through mentoring, coaching, education, and career development opportunities.

  • Provide operational leadership and on-call support, ensuring effective patient flow, response to urgent issues, and continuity of operations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field required; 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.

  • Ability to effectively engage with customers, assess their needs, and communicate information clearly and professionally.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of leadership, staff, physicians, board members, patients, and the public in a fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure environment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a commitment to exceptional customer service.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and resolve issues with minimal supervision.

  • Flexible and adaptable schedule, including the ability to support a 24/7 operation with occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities as needed.

  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
