About the Role
The Legal Editor is responsible for ensuring the integrity, legal accuracy, currency, and AI-readiness of case law content and legal research materials across Southeast Asia jurisdictions. The role combines legal editorial expertise with digital content awareness, legal research intelligence, and operational collaboration to support LexisNexis legal technology products and AI-enabled research solutions. This role contributes to the transformation of legal publishing into intelligent legal content delivery by ensuring legal materials are structured, enriched, searchable, analytically valuable, and aligned with evolving customer research behavior and GenAI product capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Source, analyse, edit, and validate legal case law content and related materials.
- Monitor legal developments, judicial trends, and emerging legal issues across SEA jurisdictions.
- Ensure editorial accuracy, legal integrity, timeliness, and consistency of assigned products.
- Conduct legal research and legal analysis to support content development and editorial decisions.
- Contribute editorial insights that improve customer legal research experience and legal analytics value.
- Ensure legal content is optimized for digital research platforms and AI-assisted legal solutions.
- Support AI/GenAI readiness initiatives through structured content validation, metadata consistency, taxonomy alignment, and semantic enrichment practices.
- Collaborate with technology and product teams on intelligent legal content initiatives.
- Ensure legal content supports discoverability, citation accuracy, search relevance, and downstream AI usage.
- Adapt editorial practices to evolving legal tech and AI-assisted workflows.
- Participate in evaluation and testing of AI-assisted editorial and research tools.
- Adhere to publication schedules and operational SLAs across multiple formats and jurisdictions.
- Manage editorial workflows and coordinate with vendors, contributors, and operational stakeholders.
- Prioritize competing deadlines while maintaining editorial quality standards.
- Support strategic projects, workflow enhancements, and cross-functional initiatives.
- Maintain accurate editorial tracking, documentation, and operational reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve editorial workflows, research processes, and operational efficiency.
- Support automation, workflow modernization, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Recommend process improvements that enhance scalability, quality, and turnaround time.
- Contribute ideas for product innovation and enhanced customer research experience.
- Support implementation of operational best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build strong working relationships with Editorial, Product, Technology, Commercial, and Operations teams.
- Support customer-facing teams with legal content and product-related queries.
- Manage relationships with authors, contributors, licensors, and vendors.
- Collaborate across regional and global teams on editorial and strategic initiatives.
- Participate in global operational and transformation projects where required.
- Support product enhancements, content expansion, and editorial innovation initiatives.
- Conduct competitor benchmarking and monitor legal publishing market trends.
- Identify emerging customer needs and legal research trends impacting product strategy.
- Contribute recommendations for new content, features, and legal research enhancements.
Qualifications:
- LLB or equivalent legal qualification required.
- Additional certification or exposure to legal technology, AI, publishing, or project management is advantageous.
- Experience in legal practice, legal publishing, legal research, or editorial operations preferred.
- Experience working with legal content, case law analysis, or legal information products.
- Exposure to digital publishing, legal technology, or AI-assisted workflows is advantageous.
- Strong legal research and legal analytical skills.
- Strong understanding of case law developments and legal systems within SEA jurisdictions.
- Superior reading comprehension and editorial judgment.
- Ability to identify legal trends, emerging issues, and customer research needs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and editorial accuracy.
- Awareness of AI/GenAI developments in legal research and publishing.
- Understanding of AI-ready content principles, metadata quality, and structured legal content.
- Adaptability to evolving legal technology and AI-assisted editorial environments.
- Familiarity with legal research platforms, content management systems, and digital publishing tools.
- Good organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working collaboratively across functions and jurisdictions.
- Strong problem-solving and process improvement mindset.
- Competent in Agile or continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
- Proficient in English and Malay (written and spoken). Additional regional language capability is advantageous.
