Software Engineering & Development Officer
Who We Are Looking For
State Street Investment Management is seeking a hands-on Technical Analyst / Senior Software Engineer for our China office as part of the Information Technology organization.
The successful candidate will support business-critical applications and infrastructure for stakeholders, including application support, BAU activities, and issue resolution for State Street Investment Management applications.

This role supports business-critical applications with a strong emphasis on technical troubleshooting, application support, automation, and stakeholder collaboration.
What You Will Be Responsible For
- Design, develop, test, maintain, and support enterprise applications and backend services in accordance with established software development lifecycle (SDLC) standards.
- Take ownership of assigned applications, components, or services from requirements analysis through production deployment, BAU support, and ongoing issue resolution.
- Ensure applications meet performance, security, availability, and scalability requirements.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation to support application support and future enhancements
- Collaborate effectively with business users, infrastructure teams, vendors, and global technology partners to resolve incidents and service requests in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot:
Design, build, and support RESTful APIs
Develop and maintain database solutions, including data modeling and SQL development
Integrate backend services with frontend applications and third party systems
Support service oriented and microservices based architectures
- Develop and maintain quick web based demo and service using skills:
React JS

Education & Preferred Qualifications/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on development, application support, or technical troubleshooting experience with at least one programming language.
- Hands-on experience with Windows platform support and SQL Server is strongly preferred.
- Experience with scripting, automation, or support tooling such as VBA, PowerShell, VBScript, Windows Batch, Microsoft Visual Studio, and SQL development is preferred.
- Comfortable working in a Japanese business environment, with willingness to use Japanese in daily work and learn relevant business and technical terminology.
- Experience with microservices or distributed systems
- Exposure to cloud platforms or container based deployment models
- Prior experience in financial services or regulated industries
