About the Position: This position is located within Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Director for Surgery, Department of OB/GYN General Obstetrics & Gynecology at Bethesda, Maryland. Work hours: 80 hours to a 2 week period. No evenings or weekends. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Conduct and direct collaborative care assessment, diagnosis and management of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Implement the patient therapeutic care plan, with significant emphasis in the areas of patient/family education, assessment, and support.
Order and interpret related laboratory and diagnostic tests; prescribe medications; and initiates emergency care.
Consult and collaborate with physicians and other health care providers regarding patient management o include evaluating and revising therapeutic plans and managing high-risk, unstable, or extremely complex patients.
Evaluate care delivery models and strategies, using concepts related to community, environmental/occupational health, and cultural and socioeconomic dimensions of health.
Serve as a preceptor to graduate students enrolled in nurse practitioner and physician assistant programs, medical students and to newly assigned nurse practitioners.
