Director of Business Operations
About Doodle Labs
Doodle Labs builds the connectivity backbone of the autonomous systems revolution — resilient wireless mesh networks that let drones, robots, and unmanned platforms operate reliably in the world's most demanding environments. We sit at the intersection of defense, robotics, and next-generation autonomy, powering the machines that are changing how militaries, first responders, and industries operate in the field. Our core purpose is simple: connect anyone and anything, at any time, in any place.
For over 25 years, our team has been at the forefront of mesh networking, partnering with leading defense programs, robotics manufacturers, and system integrators worldwide. The work here doesn't sit in a slide deck — it ends up in the field, in the hands of people for whom failure isn't an option.
About the Role
The Director of Business Operations owns cross-functional programs and drives process design and implementation across the company. This is a true operating role that will play a key part in how effectively Doodle Labs executes as it scales.
In this role, you'll turn Doodle Labs into an AI-native organization — finding where AI actually changes how the business works and making it happen. You'll launch and own cross-functional priorities end to end, working closely with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Operations leadership, bringing each department the tools and processes they need to accomplish their mission faster — including driving supply chain improvements that keep mission-critical hardware shipping on schedule. You'll also own the operating cadence that gives leadership real visibility into how the business is running. This position reports to the Co-CEO and will help shape how the company operates day to day.
This is an in-office role based in Austin, TX, with approximately 30% travel, including visits to Doodle Labs' Singapore office.
Doodle Labs is scaling fast, and this role exists because the company has outgrown ad hoc coordination — it needs someone to build the operating backbone that lets that growth keep compounding. This is an opportunity to build and own that infrastructure at the forefront of autonomous systems, with scope that grows as the company does.
What You’ll Do
- Identify where AI can create the most impact across the business, and drive adoption so it actually changes how teams work — not just picking tools, but making them stick
- Own and standardize software stacks and platforms across teams — including driving AI-first operations (Claude, internal agents, automation)
- Build and maintain the operating rhythm — including weekly leadership updates — that keeps Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Operations aligned
- Automate and optimize supply chain processes that keep mission-critical hardware shipping on schedule
- Design and implement new processes in partnership with Engineering and Operations
- Partner with leadership across departments to identify, scope, and execute high-priority cross-functional projects
- Own a quarterly initiative roadmap and deliver assigned programs that make Doodle Labs run better
What Success Looks Like
- Measurable adoption of AI tools and automation that changes how teams actually work, not just what's available to them
- Cross-functional priorities launched and delivered against a clear roadmap
- On-time delivery of the quarterly initiative roadmap
- A leaner, more automated supply chain that keeps hardware shipping on schedule
- Leadership has real-time visibility into how the business is running
- Strong trust and alignment across Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Operations leadership
Who You Are
- Background in management consulting, with 5+ years of professional experience, including time spent owning complex initiatives independently
- A structured thinker and strong operator who takes a project and runs with it — comfortable working across teams rather than sitting inside one function
- Proven experience running complex, cross-functional programs independently, from scoping through execution, without a playbook
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the rigor to break down ambiguous problems into clear, actionable plans
- Comfortable building processes and systems from scratch, and driving adoption of them across teams that don't report to you
- Genuine enthusiasm for AI tools and automation as one of several levers for improving how the company runs
- Excellent communication skills, with the credibility to work directly with senior leadership and engineering/ops teams alike
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in defense, hardware, or supply chain-heavy industries
- Experience working with Claude, other LLM platforms, or building internal automation and agents
- Familiarity with cross-team reporting systems and process design
Why Join Doodle Labs
