The Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial accounting and reporting. The role supports the day-to-day financial operations of the business, including bookkeeping, statutory compliance, tax reporting, and month-end close activities, in line with group accounting policies and local regulatory requirements. The Accountant plays a key role in maintaining financial integrity, transparency, and operational efficiency while supporting the growth of the business in Mozambique.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. 

  • 3-6 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably within logistics, freight forwarding, or a similar industry.

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and local tax regulations in Mozambique. 

  • Experience with ERP systems and strong Excel skills. 

  • Experience working in an international or multicultural environment is an advantage.

  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy. 

  • Solid accounting and financial reporting skills with SAGE experience. 

  • Good understanding of compliance, tax, and internal controls. 

  • Ability to work independently while aligning with group finance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate accounting records in line with IFRS and Group policies

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports; support closing processes

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, collections, and payments

  • Monitor cash flow, perform bank reconciliations, and support daily cash management

  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and handle VAT, WHT, and statutory filings

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

  • Maintain strong internal controls and support audits and regulatory requirements

  • Contribute to process improvements and effective use of ERP/accounting systems
