Innovation Engineer in Nanotechnology/Physics/Materials Science/Chemistry

As Innovation Engineer in Nanotechnology/Physics/Materials Science/Chemistry (100%), you will be responsible for innovative projects related to state-of-the-art metrologies, involving experimental design, physical measurements and data analysis. You will be the owner of diverse analytical instruments – standard ones and emerging ones – mastering every technical detail of the technologies to deliver consistent measurements data and analysis, and establishing all what is necessary to deliver these analysis (definition of Standard Operation Procedures – SOP – for sample preparation and analysis, code development in Python for data collection and analysis, automation of analysis, etc…). In addition, you can be involved in the development or the support of new products in the Innovation department.

The role is based in Witterswil, Solothurn (Basel Area), Switzerland, with excellent public transport access (Tram 10) and free on-site parking.
How you'll make an impact:
- Take the lead in state-of-the-art physical and chemical characterisation of materials, surfaces, and liquids
- Participate in experimental design, data collection, and interpretation
- Support innovation in projects for industrial water purification and water quality monitoring
- Support Quality Control activities
- Maintain contact with international suppliers and customers
- Prepare analytical reports
Qualifications:
- MSc or equivalent in Physics, Nanotechnology, Materials Science, Chemistry or equivalent
- Proficiency in surface analysis using microscopes (Optical, Scanning Electron Microscope, Atomic Force Microscope)
- Experience with semiconductor tools, wafer handlings, and quality analysis on wafer
- Experience with sampling and analysis performed in cleanroom environment (50%)
- Proficiency in Quality Control, SOPs and lab environment work
- Self-driven personality, creative, and able to work under pressure
- Hands-on mentality with a sense of ownership and responsibility
- Strong communication skills and team-oriented working capability
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-moving environment
- Willingness to travel internationally (occasionally; up to 10%)
- Fluent in English; German and/or French is an added value
- EU or Swiss citizenship or valid Swiss work permit
