Cyber Counterintelligence (CI) Desk Officer MID

HOW A CYBER CI DESK OFFICER MID WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

This effort provides Analytical Support Services to the U.S. Army Counterintelligence (CI), Counterterrorism (CT), and Human Intelligence (HUMINT) enterprise, supporting the United States Army Counterintelligence Command (USACIC), its subordinate commands, and associated activities.  The Cyber Counterintelligence (CI) Desk Officer MID advises and assists Army CI and CT stakeholders across the full spectrum of cyber-related investigations, operations, and collection activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of cyber investigative methodologies, and the ability to develop actionable intelligence products and brief senior leaders.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide analytical and operational support to the Cyber Coordination Division on cyber-CI investigations, operations, and collection missions
  • Research emerging cyber methodologies, tradecraft, tools, and techniques used by Foreign Intelligence Entities (FIE) and Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO) targeting U.S. Army equities
  • Develop information papers, assessments, and analytic products
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of sensitive investigations involving networks, computers, and digital media
  • Support inspections of subordinate units to ensure proper collection, preservation, storage, and processing of digital evidence
  • Apply understanding of how computer and internet‑based platforms are used in national security crimes, including espionage, insider threats, and terrorism
  • Conduct briefings and discussions with internal and external senior-level stakeholders using strong oral and written communication skills
  • Draft memoranda, reports, and finished intelligence products addressing cyber-CI findings, trends, and operational insights
  • Compile, analyze, and disseminate metrics capturing cyber-CI activities in support of investigations, collections, and operations
  • Use knowledge of U.S. Intelligence Community (IC) and law enforcement resources to identify, access, and coordinate relevant information for cyber-related events

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI with a favorable polygraph
  • US Citizenship Required
  • Experience/Education: Minimum 10 years’ experience as a credentialed CI Special Agent and a high school diploma. At least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years. College education cannot be used in lieu of experience.
  • Must be a graduate of any of the following Counterintelligence Agent Certifying Courses:
    • Army – Counterintelligence Special Agent Course (CISAC)
    • Army – 35L Course (or its predecessor) Army – 351L Course (or its predecessor)
    • U.S. Air Force –Basic Special Investigators Course (BISC)
    • U.S. Air Force Special Investigations Academy, or predecessor
    • Navy – Special Agent Basic Training Program (SABTB)
    •  Naval Criminal Investigative Service Training Academy, or predecessor.
  • Must be a graduate of all the following Joint Counterintelligence Training Activity (JCITA) or Defense Cyber Investigations Training Academy (DCITA) Courses:
    • JCITA – CI investigations in a Cyber Environment
    • DCITA – Windows Forensics Examinations
    • DCITA – Forensic Intrusions in a Windows Environment (FIWE)
  • Understanding of CI Investigations Fundamentals of Cyber Counterintelligence
  • Experience supporting cyber, CI, CT, or intelligence operations
  • Understanding of cyber investigative techniques, digital evidence handling, and cyber threat tradecraft
  • Understanding of FIE TTPs
  • Strong research, analysis, and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop intelligence products and conduct briefings for senior leadership
  • Familiarity with IC and law enforcement coordination processes

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience supporting U.S. Army or DoW CI organizations
  • Prior involvement in cyber-CI investigations or cyber operational support
  • Knowledge of cyber threat actors, FIE tactics, and CT cyber tradecraft
  • Experience performing digital media analysis or related technical assessments.

The likely salary range for this position is $107,744 - $132,158. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
