Business Operations Partner

Lekki, NigeriaFull-TimePosted Jul 21, 2026

Flutterwave was founded on the principle that every African must be able to participate and thrive in the global economy. To achieve this objective, we have built a trusted payment infrastructure that allows consumers and businesses to make and receive payments in a convenient borderless manner.

About the Role

As Business Operations Partner, you will be the primary accountability interface between the central BizOps function and one of Flutterwave’s organizational units. You will develop deep knowledge of your assigned functions — their OKRs, strategic initiatives, key risks, and leadership dynamics — and use that knowledge to ensure the accountability system functions effectively within each org.

You are responsible for ensuring that the right governance infrastructure exists within the orgs you support, that commitments are tracked and reviewed, and that risks are surfaced to the BizOps Lead — and through them, to the CEO and Head of Strategy & Operations— before they become crises. The purpose of this role is to drive operational excellence by improving business performance, establishing operating rhythms, analyzing business health, and ensuring cross-functional alignment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Business Partnership: Serve as the dedicated Business Operations partner to a defined portfolio of 2–3 organizational units, developing a deep understanding of each function's strategy, priorities, operating model, and leadership dynamics. Build trusted relationships with senior leaders as a strategic thought partner who enables clarity, accountability, and inform ed decision-making.
  • Governance & Operating Rhythm: Create accountability through structured governance forums and reporting by developing and managing business operating cadences, including MBRs, QBRs, executive reviews, and leadership checkpoints.
  • Strategic Initiative Oversight: Maintain visibility across the portfolio of strategic initiatives by tracking OKRs, milestones, dependencies, ownership, risks, and key decisions, ensuring leadership has an accurate view of execution health and emerging issues.
  • Performance Reporting & Visibility: Configure and maintain executive dashboards that provide timely visibility into KPI performance, OKR progress, and business health, while highlighting emerging trends and areas requiring leadership attention.
  • Risk Identification & Escalation: Proactively identify execution risks, stalled decisions, and missed commitments, escalating issues with clear recommendations and proposed next steps to the Business Operations Lead.
  • Strategic Planning Support: Partner with functional leaders during annual and quarterly planning to develop clear objectives, define resource requirements, create business cases and ensure functional strategies translate into measurable OKRs and initiatives.
  • Prioritization & Capacity Planning: Support enterprise prioritization by evaluating competing initiatives, analyzing trade-offs, identifying capacity constraints, developing business cases and helping leadership make informed sequencing and investment decisions.

What This Role Is Not

  • This role is not responsible for managing or delivering initiatives within the functional orgs
  • This role does not own team roadmaps, project plans, or operational workflows on behalf of any function
  • This role is not administrative or coordinative — it requires strategic judgment, analytical rigor, and the confidence to hold leaders accountable

Requirements

  • 7–12 years of experience in strategy, business operations, management consulting, chief of staff, or a similar high-accountability role
  • Experience supporting or partnering with senior functional leaders (CFO, CPO, CTO, CHRO, CLO or equivalents)
  • Strong analytical skills — able to work with data and metrics to assess functional health, surface trends, and support decision-making
  • Excellent written and verbal communication — able to produce crisp, executive-ready materials under time pressure
  • High levels of professional maturity and discretion — comfortable navigating sensitive information and complex situations
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and hold peers or senior stakeholders accountable constructively
  • Structured thinker with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Familiarity with OKR frameworks, MBR/QBR processes, and executive governance models
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate executive meetings, drive structured discussions, and synthesize outcomes into clear actions and decisions.
  • Experience in fintech, payments, or a regulated financial services environment is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent strongly preferred

What Success Looks Like in Year One

  • Assigned functional leaders view the BizOps Senior Manager as a trusted partner and proactively bring risks, blockers, and decisions to them
  • Weekly reports for assigned orgs are consistently on time, complete, and decision-ready
  • Zero surprises at MBR — risks are surfaced and escalated before they reach the review table
  • Dashboards for assigned orgs are accurate, up-to-date, and actively used by functional leadership
  • The accountability system is genuinely embedded within assigned orgs — not treated as a compliance exercise
  • Governance forums are consistently well attended, action-oriented, and result in clear ownership, timely decisions, and measurable follow-through.
