Emergency Management Specialist (Response)

This position is located in Region 9, Response Division. The ideal candidate for thi position possesses extensive knowledge of emergency management principles, disaster response operations, and analytical techniques for situational assessment. They demonstrate strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, and can operate effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced environments, including rotating shifts and emergency deployments. What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will serve as a Watch Analyst on a Watch Team who perform tasks in support of assigned emergency program. Typical assignments include: Preparing and delivering briefings, reports, and presentations to senior management and stakeholders. Ensuring timely and accurate communication of situational awareness and operational updates during emergency response activities. Providing responsive support and information to stakeholders, addressing inquiries and coordinating resources to ensure effective assistance during disaster response operations. Representing FEMA at interagency meetings, conferences, and briefings, articulating agency positions and coordinating with stakeholders on emergency management issues. Collaborating with stakeholders to analyze data, develop recommendations, and ensure coordinated response efforts during incidents and disasters. What else do I need to know? Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
