We are seeking a Software Operations Lead for SPY-6 to guide and coordinate the Field Engineer team and ensure the successful delivery, deployment, and sustainment of high-quality software products. You’ll collaborate with product leadership and engineering teams to translate program objectives into executable plans, manage field operational readiness, and maintain the tools and processes that keep our systems mission-capable. This is a highly impactful role blending technical depth, leadership, problem-solving, and operational execution.

This position is 100% on-site in Marlborough Massachusetts.

What You Will Do

  • Lead Operational Excellence: Oversee and coordinate SPY-6 Field Engineers, ensuring high-quality software delivery, deployment, and field operations aligned with program goals and customer expectations. 

  • Maintain installation and runtime tooling to ensure operational readiness across all fielded environments. 

  • Plan, Align, and Prioritize: Partner closely with the SPY-6 Chief Product Owner (CPO), Software Lead, and BCLs to plan, prioritize, and manage the Field Engineer team backlog. 

  • Manage release packages, ensuring alignment with program needs, technical dependencies, and team capacity. 

  • Support the Mission in the Field: Provide direct software support at test sites, including troubleshooting, triage, and issue resolution. 

  • Escalate unresolved or systemic technical issues to program leadership with clear analysis and recommended actions. 

  • Enable Teams to Deliver: Coordinate personnel support for program activities, including events, integration periods, and deployments. 

  • Mentor and coach Field Engineers to ensure readiness, optimized performance, adherence to process, and continuous improvement.


Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Experience in software engineering, software field support, systems engineering, or a related technical field. 

  • Experience supporting deployed systems, field operations, or mission-critical environments. 

  • Experience planning and prioritizing work in agile or iterative development environments.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U. S. government issued Secret security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.


Qualifications We Prefer

  • Familiarity with radar systems, defense systems, or large-scale real-time software. 

  • Experience with software deployment pipelines, installation tooling, or operational monitoring solutions. 

  • Ability to translate field conditions and customer needs into actionable engineering tasks.

  • Strong technical background with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve field software issues. 

  • Demonstrated leadership experience guiding technical or field teams. 

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to coordinate across stakeholders.

This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA , an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
