The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for supporting a variety of human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and Human Resources records management. This role serves as a key resource for employees and managers, helping ensure Human Resources processes are delivered efficiently and in accordance with company policies and employment laws. Located in Des Plaines, IL, this job is onsite only and you will be working Monday to Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm and sometimes OT as needed.
How you create impact
- Maintain 200+ employee payroll records. Duties include payroll processing by auditing timekeeping records daily, entering time off requests and missing punches.
- Resolve any payroll problems or discrepancies.
- Maintain the employee attendance tracker and supporting leadership with counseling notices.
- Ensure counseling notices are received back in a timely manner.
- Entering department codes and add/update employee schedules in timekeeping system.
- Contact no call no show employees and notify HRM if employee is absent 3 consecutive days or reached maximum attendance occurrences.
- Badge system controller; ordering badges for temporary workers, contractors and KN employees. De-activating badges, auditing, and maintaining employee photos.
- Maintain employee locker spreadsheet and locker acknowledgement forms. Issue lockers to new employees. Clean out lockers when employees leave the company. May help with locker searches.
- Welcomes visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries.
- Answering employee inquiries or issues. Explain company personnel policies or benefits to employees.
- Maintains security by following procedures; monitoring logbook; issuing visitor and employee badges.
- Assist with onsite job fairs.
- Prepare packets for new employee orientations.
- Will assist with activities and any HR related activities.
- Check mail and invoices.
- Administrative duties such as filing and creating copies.
- Responsible for supporting and meeting KN and/or customer KPIs within their sphere of responsibility.
- Awareness of and adherence to QSHE programs.
- Will perform other job tasks, as assigned.
What we would like you to bring
- High school diploma or GED required. Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Must have at least 1-2 years relative work experience.
- Working knowledge of Ultipro.
- Ideal candidate will have prior experience in warehouse environment.
- Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Must be detail oriented and have strong attention to detail.
- Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work to ensure all job tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Strong work ethic and team player.
- High degree of professionalism.
- Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material.
- Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills.
- Ability to communicate with various levels of the organization and customers.
- Ability to accomplish multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Fluent in English/Spanish- Must be nice to have.

Base salary is part of a competitive total rewards package that includes health and welfare benefits, a 401k retirement savings plan, tuition reimbursement, and incentive compensation for eligible roles. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, skills, job location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
