The Assistant Engineer - Production is responsible for the precise, hands-on assembly of wind turbine components or heavy weight components. This is a technical, execution-focused role requiring expertise in heavy-component industrial bolting. The position ensures production excellence by following rigorous technical documentation, maintaining standardized work processes, and applying Lean manufacturing tools to optimize daily assembly tasks.
Job Description
- Possess 4.5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, specifically within the wind turbine industry or heavy equipment manufacturing.
- Must have direct experience in crane lifting activities and the safe handling of heavy-weight components on the shop floor.
- Must have experience using specialized bolting tools such as electronic torque-angle tools, calibrated torque wrenches, and industrial pneumatic or electric nut runners.
- Should have good knowledge of production-related documents including Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plans, Work Instructions (WI), and EHSRA (Environmental Health, Safety, and Risk Assessment).
- Responsible for maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to ensure all assembly processes follow safety and quality guidelines.
- Must be able to track and maintain assembly production logs and non-conformance reports (NCR) to document any deviations during the build process.
- Ability to create standardized work documents and use Yamazumi charts to balance production line workloads.
- Experience in applying Lean manufacturing principles, including Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and leading Kaizen events to improve efficiency.
- Proficient in using quality control tools and root cause analysis techniques to ensure all components meet design specifications.
- Able to read engineering drawings and assembly diagrams.
