Responsibilities
In this role the Medical Laboratory Technician will perform the following job duties under the supervision of a licensed medical technologist, pathologist or Medical Director of a CLIA approved Laboratory:
- Use automated and manual equipment to examine and analyze cells, blood and bodily fluids.
- Collect and receive blood, tissue, urine and other body fluid samples from patients.
- Ensure samples are prepared, tested and resulted using manual or automated analyzers and computer system.
Schedule
FTE: .10
Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm
Days: Monday-Friday
Qualifications
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Clinical/Medical laboratory technology program
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor's Degree with 3 years pertinent clinical laboratory experience; OR
- Associate's degree with 4 years pertinent clinical laboratory experience AND one (1) year training in a Medical Technology CAHEA approved program.
Necessary Skills:
Required Licensure/Certification(s):
- State of Florida technician license - MLT (ASCP), MLT (AMT) or MLT (AAB) in Hematology and Chemistry required
- Other subspecialties in addition to Hematology and Chemistry preferred
Preferred Licensure/Certification(s):
- ASCP, AMT or AAB National certification
- Required Experience: 3-5 Years of Clinical/medical laboratory
