Supplier Development Manager
Job Description:
Supplier Development Manager (Airbus Commercial Aircraft Procurement Organization).
The role at Airbus Vietnam is a high-visibility, mission-critical position within the Procurement Industry (procurement operation) department. This role essentially acts as the "eyes, ears, and voice" of Airbus directly on-site at Vietnam Suppliers (eg: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Vietnam (MHIVA), Nikkiso Vietnam, Universal Alloy Corporation Vietnam (UACV) etc).
In this position, SDM will have a lot of interactions with various stakeholders in procurement, quality, programs, engineering, manufacturing functions, both on the Supplier and Airbus sides, potentially including Top Management level. The Supplier Development Manager is responsible to execute missions for various stakeholders by providing the proximity, reactivity, presence and industrial expertise needed to drive development of suppliers in Vietnam in order to ensure their on-time, on-quality delivery and ready for ramp-up.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assessing the suppliers' industrial maturity and developing suppliers as need be
- Detailing the tactical plan with the various stakeholders, securing the results of the mission according to the objectives and associated roadmap defined and agreed with the internal customer
- Defining and implementing improvement plans through leading changes & transformations
- Identifying the necessary competences, building the team with suppliers and Airbus people, developing the skills set of the project team
- Representing AIRBUS at the supplier and ensuring Customer’s interests are protected
- Embodying Airbus Leadership Model and supporting the culture evolution in Procurement Operations organization
- Establish and execute the necessary action plan to secure the objectives of the mission. (eg: Special Process, Procedure & Product Audit actions)
- Leading the detailed assessment and evaluation of the supplier´s industrial situation
- Defining the action plan, with the supplier and SCQM, to improve or stabilize the supplier’s performance
- Ensuring supplier and Airbus team engagement and commitment to deliver the expected results
- Implementing in timely manner and on quality the shared and agreed plan
- Securing sustainability by ensuring supplier’s autonomy on implemented methodologies
Secondary Responsibilities
- By being Senior associate and expert in Airbus processes, To coach Supply Chain Quality Manager and work as one Airbus team in front of the suppliers. Geographical Scope: Vietnam.
- As a part of the APAC SDM team, you might also be required to travel out of Vietnam to support other SDMs.

- Supplier operational report (OTD, OQD, Transfer of Work gate review, SQCDP)
- Supplier ramp-up readiness report
- Risk & Opportunity report
- Audit & Assessment report & action follow up

- Crisis management (fire-fighting)
Personal & Interpersonal Skills
- Strong operational management skills, in particular in Supply Chain & Quality- incl. "Supply chain management/Lean/6 Sigma"
- Knowledge to efficiently manage supply chain related activities.
- Experience on Shop floor operations, Manufacturing process, supply chain management, Lean, Six Sigma, Quality management, Quality problem solving, Project Management are required and certifications will add additional advantage.
- Leadership and coaching skills to guarantee supplier engagement and development.
- Communication and language skills enabling act internationally and at all levels of the organizations.
Qualification & Professional skills
- Bachelor degree in Technical ( Preferred) or Business
- More than 8 years industrial experience in Aeronautics, Space, Defence, Automotive and/or other relevant industries.
- Shop floor operations, Manufacturing process knowledge
- Supply chain management, Lean, Six Sigma
- Quality Management
- Quality problem solving
- Project Management experiences
- Airbus Qualified Special process Auditor is desirable
