New Product Introduction Procurement Engineer (Injection Molding)

Description -

This role is responsible for providing DFM guidance to R&D and Manufacturing engineers for high-volume thermoplastic injection molding components. The role also represents HP with worldwide external tooling and molding suppliers to develop injection mold tooling and processes, metrology strategies, and quality control plans. The role involves being able to communicate clearly with suppliers, internal partners, and management of cross-functional teams in a fast-paced new product development environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides DFM guidance and technical solutions for mechanical and thermal plastic molded components, electronics enclosures, and production tooling based on established engineering principles and in accordance with thermoplastic technology practices and guidelines.
  • Participates as a member of project teams with mechanical design and manufacturing engineers to develop reliable, cost effective and high-quality solutions for low- to high-complexity products.
  • Develops and implements mold capacity planning considering forecasts, cycle times, and yields.
  • Evaluates injection molded part failures and issues with cross functional teams and provide solutions. Work with suppliers to determine root cause and implement robust solutions.
  • Develop quality control plans with suppliers to ensure reliability and quality for proto through high volume HP specifications.
  • Manage relationships with external partners and suppliers, on design and development of injection mold tooling and processes, including setting expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs.
  • Provides technical guidance to internal partners and external supplier teams in the resolution of challenges and supports program level efforts.
  • Identifies and resolves challenges with the cross-functional teams using technical experience, engineering judgment, and precedents.

Recommended Education & Experience

  • Four-year Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • Typically has 5+ years of work experience, preferably in injection molding or a related field.

  • Injection Molding Equipment and Processing knowledge
  • Knowledge of thermoplastic and thermoset materials

  • 3D Modeling (PTC Creo preferred)

Pay & Benefits

The pay range for this role is $93,400 to $143,800 USD annually with additional

opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United

States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related

knowledge, skills, and experience.
