Collins Aerospace is seeking a Connected Battlespace Lab (CBL) Communications Systems Modelling & Simulation (M&S) Engineer (CMSE) able to support a three (3) month initiation and training period in the UK followed by a four (4) year assignment in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). This position is in support of a long-term communications systems modelling and simulation (M&S) laboratory and academics program.

As this role is primarily based in the UAE, the candidate must successfully complete all required background and pre-hire immigration checks and be eligible to obtain the right to work and reside in the country. The company will support the candidate through the relevant application process. Due to the nature of the program to remain ITAR free this position is NOT available to US candidates.
Role Overview:
The CMSE role shall support the following specific areas:
Responsible for being a communications system subject matter expert (SME)
Teaching and mentoring a team performing in-depth modelling and analysis of UAE communications systems using commercial and specially developed M&S tools and techniques
Instructor/facilitator for the CBL Foundations course
Providing M&S development support, mentoring, and on the job training (OJT) for the CBL Emirati staff.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide in-country Communications M&S SME for Collins aerospace CBL activities
Teach Communications Systems and M&S concepts and approaches as part of the CBL Foundations Course
Provide students’ academic support and mentoring to ensure successful completion of the course
Assess students’ understanding of M&S and communications systems topics and evaluate their proficiency
Support the Instructional Systems Design process to develop and improve the course
Support installation of the Connected Battlespace Lab (CBL) at a UAE site
Provide in-lab M&S project design, planning, execution, and analysis alongside Emirati CBL Foundations Course graduates
Conduct OJT and mentoring of apprentice level Technical Lead/Systems Engineers CBL staff to improve their proficiency and grow their skills
Develop a working knowledge of UAE MOD specific communications systems to include networks, RF datalinks, 5G/6G wireless, Satellite Communications (SATCOM), data encryption devices, radios, electronic warfare (EW), Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled communications, software defined radio (SDR), etc.
Utilise M&S tools (e.g., Ansys, MATLAB, etc.) to develop communications systems models and simulations
Review and advise on the development of CBL policies and procedures
Work with reach-back support engineers and SMEs to gain and maintain expertise in CBL Foundations Course topics and communications systems technical areas (e.g., M&S tools and techniques, communications systems, mission operations, emerging technologies, etc.)
Other related duties as required
Essential Qualifications and Experience You Must Have:
Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English Language
Understanding of Arabic culture, sensitivity to the Islamic environment, and ability to teach and work in the program’s environment
12+ years of communications systems experience
5+ years of M&S experience
Experience with teaching/mentoring junior technical personnel/students
Experience in the classroom teaching and guiding students during self-guided learning
Military communications systems experience (e.g., datalinks, networks, radios, RF, etc.)
Applied knowledge of M&S principles and practices in a communications systems related domain
Demonstrated ability to conduct short-term studies, translate project requirements into model contexts, and coordinate with SMEs and stakeholders to meet M&S project objectives
Ability to plan and lead the execution of M&S technical projects
Ability to derive and specify clear requirements with measurable acceptability criteria for M&S projects
Ability to assess and communicate the level of confidence / risk associated with M&S project findings
Ability to present model and simulation designs, implementation architectures, and results to M&S professionals and senior decision makers
Development of communications systems/networks models
Development of communications systems/network simulations
Simulations results analysis and development of optimization recommendations
Qualifications and Experience We Prefer:
Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell
Experience with Software Tool Kits (STKs), writing software adapters, use of AI agents
Experience using MATLAB, Ansys, or other M&S software applications
Familiar with agile software development
Familiar with IT infrastructure software applications (e.g., MS Server)
Experience in the Middle East or working with native Arab cultures
Military experience or military related programs
Understanding of RTX Collins Aerospace and its policies/procedures
