About the role and team
Uber is seeking a Senior Manager, Federal Tax to lead and enhance our federal tax provision and advisory processes. In this high impact role, you’ll own U.S. federal tax provision under ASC 740 while collaborating with US International Tax, SALT and Quantitative Analysis teams. You’ll mentor and develop the federal tax team, fostering a dynamic and high-performance culture.
What You’ll Do
- Lead [INSERT] process: Oversee federal tax provision calculations, while partnering with U.S. International Tax, SALT and other teams to ensure a seamless integration into the overall process.
- Tax Advisory & Business Support: Collaborate with the Tax Business Advisory team to provide federal tax insights for strategic business initiatives such as market expansion and new product launches.
- Stay Ahead of Tax Law: Collaborate with the Tax Policy team to monitor tax legislative changes, anticipate potential impacts to Uber, and advise leadership on risks and opportunities.
- Optimize Processes & Automation: Drive process improvements and technology automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Stakeholder Management: Engage with Treasury, Accounting, Strategic Finance and other stakeholders to align tax advisory and reporting strategies.
- Develop Future Leaders: Mentor and grow the federal tax team members, fostering collaboration and technical excellence.
Basic Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in corporate tax advisory and provision, preferably in a multinational corporation or public accounting.
- Expertise in [INSERT RELEVANT TAX AREAS].
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field; MST/CPA preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, JD, or Master’s in Taxation.
- Proven track record of building and leading high-performing tax teams in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment.
- Experience with tax automation and data visualization tools such as Alteryx, Power Query, or OneSource.
- Strong systems-thinking mindset with the ability to identify architectural gaps in tax processes and implement scalable solutions.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex tax concepts for non-tax executives.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $182,000 per year - USD $202,000 per year.
For Washington, DC-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $182,000 per year - USD $202,000 per year.
For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
