Our Enterprise Client Engineering (ECE) team is responsible for designing and implementing systems that run a variety of operating systems on virtual and physical infrastructures. Partner with the best

As a Systems Engineer II, you will design, build, and maintain a secure, scalable Windows ecosystem for Akamai's global workforce. You will deploy and manage critical services connecting thousands of endpoints. Analyze, research, and resolve complex technical issues focused on Windows OS. Collaborate with engineers on documentation, testing, implementation, escalation, and serve as a liaison to the Solution Center.

As a Systems Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

  • Administering, configuring, and maintaining Akamai's global Windows fleet using group policy, registry settings, Kace, and Workspace One MDM tools.
  • Designing and optimizing client OS deployment workflows with management tools and scripting, managing drivers, configurations, upgrades, and maintaining infrastructure.
  • Implementing and maintaining effective patch management strategies for Windows OS and third-party software, ensuring timely testing, staging, and rollout processes.
  • Writing, testing, and maintaining scripts (Powershell, VBS, Batch) for automating administrative tasks, enforcing configurations, and deploying software. Python experience preferred.
  • Providing Tier 3 engineering support for complex Windows issues, conducting root-cause analysis, documenting solutions, and ensuring availability when required.
  • Monitoring system health, performance metrics, and compliance logs throughout the enterprise-wide Windows infrastructure.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a high school diploma or a technical degree, another related field or its equivalent
  • Have 5 years experience in enterprise systems engineering, with a dedicated focus on Windows administration at scale (3,000+ endpoints).
  • Demonstrate expertise in enterprise endpoint and systems management, including deployment, patching, inventory, reporting, and adaptability to new tools.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Windows imaging workflows, including WIM deployment, driver integration, post-imaging setup, and automated build procedures.
  • Demonstrate expertise in PowerShell, VBS, and batch code for automation, configuration enforcement, and administration tasks, with Python experience valued.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Windows architecture, file systems, registry, Group Policy (GPO), Installer packaging, Active Directory, and security frameworks.
  • Demonstrate expertise and comprehensive knowledge related to these operating systems.
