Are you ready to ignite your career and drive the future of automotive digital engineering? We are seeking an ambitious and skilled Model-Based Systems Engineer to join our Digital Transformation team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of digital innovation, helping shape the digital tools and processes Ford utilizes for systems engineering and failure mode avoidance through the strategic implementation, customization, and support of enterprise-wide tools like CATIA Magic (MagicDraw/Cameo) and Teamwork Cloud (TWC).
Applying your expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), you will bridge the gap between advanced systems engineering methodologies and practical, robust tool deployment. You will be responsible for the end-to-end systems engineering lifecycle of our MBSE tools and methods—from selecting and evaluating best-in-class MBSE processes to implementing complex software integrations that enable concurrent product creation across Ford’s global Product Development organization. Working closely with our Enterprise Technology partners, you will empower Ford’s global engineering teams by developing custom tool enhancements and integrations, managing server collaborations, and driving the organizational adoption of MBSE. If you have a passion for engineering excellence, digital transformation, and model-based systems engineering, join us and turn your passion into a tangible legacy.
- MBSE Tool Ownership: Create, manage, and maintain custom Domain-Specific Languages (DSLs) and MagicDraw/CATIA Magic profiles to align with Ford’s specific engineering standards and Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) methodologies. Work directly with the tool vendor on plugin and integration development, deployment, and tool lifecycle management.
- Engineering Ecosystem Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and IT matched-pairs to integrate MBSE tools with other enterprise systems. Expand cross-tool interoperability to include 2D/3D CAD design data and CAE disciplines to enable a seamless Digital Thread across the product lifecycle.
- Drive MBSE Adoption: Contribute subject matter expertise and technical mentorship to product development teams to accelerate enterprise adoption and deployment of MBSE methodologies and CATIA Magic.
- Engineering Excellence: Support Quality and Robustness Workstreams: Ensure MBSE model structures and processes seamlessly support SAE J1739 Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) disciplines and the RAAML standard (Risk Analysis and Assessment Modeling Language), including digital execution of DFMEAs, Boundary and P-Diagrams, and Robustness Checklists. Support digital transformation of FMA processes from document- to model-based.
- Deliver Technical Support: Provide robust user support, issue management, and continuous tool enhancements for the enterprise MBSE tool suite, troubleshooting complex modeling and integration challenges. Support Enterprise Technology teams with Teamwork Cloud (TWC) infrastructure activities, including server upgrades and performance improvements.
- Develop MBSE Training Materials: Create, maintain, and update tool training documentation, modeling guidelines, and learning materials to accelerate onboarding and ensure consistent modeling practices across functional teams.
- Research Emerging Tech: Research and implement emerging technical differentiators – including Generative AI-driven solutions and SysML V2 – within the systems engineering environment to accelerate modeling tasks and improve overall model quality.
