Are you an experienced Medical or Clinical Governance Manager with a proven track record of working within a healthcare environment?

GenesisCare UK is looking for an experienced governance professional to lead our medical governance function, ensuring the highest standards of professional practice, patient safety and regulatory compliance across our national network of cancer centres.

We're looking for someone who has already managed medical governance within a healthcare setting and is confident building credibility with consultants, senior clinicians and executive leaders.

Working closely with our Chief Medical Officer and Head of Quality, you will take ownership of governance processes relating to practising privileges, consultant oversight, clinical performance and regulatory compliance. Success in this role requires excellent relationship-building skills, the confidence to influence senior medical professionals and the ability to balance governance requirements with a collaborative, supportive approach.

This newly created role has been introduced to strengthen medical governance across our organisation and ensure the highest standards of professional practice, patient safety and regulatory compliance. It offers a unique opportunity to work closely with senior clinical leaders while helping to shape governance frameworks across a national cancer care provider.

As the Medical Governance Manager with us, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the organisation meets the requirements of the Medical Practitioners Assurance Framework (MPAF) and maintains robust governance systems relating to medical practitioners.

What You'll Do
  • Lead organisational compliance with the Medical Practitioners Assurance Framework (MPAF).
  • Manage the full practising privileges process, including applications, reviews, restrictions and withdrawals.
  • Ensure governance systems comply with GMC Good Medical Practice, CQC requirements and internal governance standards.
  • Act as the key liaison between consultants, the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC), the Chief Medical Officer and governance teams.
  • Build trusted working relationships with consultants across GenesisCare, providing governance advice and support while constructively challenging where required.
  • Monitor clinical performance, governance metrics and quality indicators, providing assurance reporting to senior leadership.
  • Support oversight of medical appraisal outcomes and ensure these inform practising privilege decisions.
  • Lead investigations into governance concerns relating to consultant practice where appropriate.
  • Oversee governance processes linked to consultant practice, including scope of practice, consent, MDT participation and clinical audit.
  • Drive continuous improvement across medical governance, promoting a culture of accountability, transparency and patient safety.

What you'll have

Essential
  • Significant experience working as a Medical Governance Manager or Clinical Governance Manager within a healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrable experience managing medical governance frameworks and governance processes relating to medical practitioners.
  • Experience working closely with consultants and senior clinicians, with the ability to build strong, credible and professional working relationships.
  • Experience administering practising privileges and consultant governance processes.
  • Strong understanding of the Medical Practitioners Assurance Framework (MPAF), GMC Good Medical Practice and CQC regulatory requirements.
  • Experience supporting Responsible Officer functions and/or medical appraisal processes.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical governance, risk management and quality assurance.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with confidence engaging senior medical professionals.
  • Experience analysing governance, quality and clinical performance data to support decision making.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex healthcare environment.
  • Professional, resilient and able to handle sensitive governance matters with discretion.

Desirable
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in healthcare, governance or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within independent healthcare.
  • Experience supporting Medical Advisory Committees (MACs).
