Global Real Estate Financial Controller - Associate

As a Global Real Estate Financial Controller, Associate within the Corporate Real Estate Finance team, you will ensure accurate accounting treatment of capital project expenditures in accordance with GAAP and Firm policies. You will perform month-end close responsibilities, conduct reconciliations, investigate variances, and maintain strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders across a global organization. You will contribute to a strong controls environment while supporting audit activities and driving process improvements within the team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly general ledger close and accounting processes, reporting, and analysis including preparing journal entries and reconciliations
- Financial review on capital project expenditures to ensure treatment is appropriate and in accordance with GAAP and Firm policies, including timely recording of fixed assets
- Ensure the accuracy and validity of the line of business general ledger accounts, including adherence to the firmwide General Ledger Reconciliation & Substantiation (GLRS) standards
- Analyze, communicate, and resolve material variances between the general ledger and upstream systems, as defined by the line of business
- Provide timely and accurate financial information to management
- Support internal and external audit activities and inquiries
- Develop and maintain effective communication with management team and business partners
- Perform ad hoc analysis, reporting or other responsibilities as assigned by manager
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Bachelors' degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent required
- Minimum 4 years of related experience
- General ledger, financial reporting and month-end close experience
- Comfortable liaising with business and finance partners
- Ability to multi-task, work collaboratively and succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Able to understand business drivers, requirements and influence middle and front office partners to deliver solutions to business issues
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, including Excel
Adaptability to increased work schedule demands on occasion/during accounting close to meet deadlines
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Experience with SAP a plus
- Apply knowledge of fixed asset accounting and capitalization policies under GAAP
- Navigate global or matrixed organizational structures effectively
- Leverage strong problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve financial discrepancies
- Adapt quickly to new systems, tools, and processes in a corporate environment
- Execute work with a controls mindset, supporting audit-readiness and compliance standards
