What Drives Success
As an Engineered Sales Manager, you will be responsible for driving HVAC system specifications by building strong consultative relationships with consulting engineers, design-build contractors, facility managers, and other key influencers. You'll serve as a trusted technical advisor, helping customers design and specify complete HVAC solutions while growing market share throughout your territory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with consulting engineers, select design-build contractors, facility managers, and OEM customers to secure HVAC system specifications.
- Provide technical expertise on HVAC applications, system design, and product selection.
- Support consulting engineers, contractors, design firms, and end users by educating them on current and emerging HVAC products and solutions.
- Conduct product presentations, lunch-and-learns, and technical training sessions for customers and industry partners.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on specialty products, application engineering, and system design.
- Advise customers on Federal, State, and Local code requirements, as well as ASHRAE standards and design guidelines.
- Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity to identify new business opportunities and respond to changing market conditions.
- Partner closely with the commercial sales team, engineering firms, contractors, and OEM customers to develop long-term strategic relationships and drive specification growth.
Location & Travel:This is a 100% remote position supporting the Houston territory. Candidates must reside in the Houston area and be willing to travel throughout the territory to meet with customers and partners.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in commercial HVAC sales, engineering, or a related technical sales role.
- Proven ability to build relationships and effectively communicate with consulting engineers and the mechanical engineering community to drive system specifications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver engaging presentations and technical training.
- Strong sales acumen with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Solid understanding of commercial HVAC products, applications, and industry trends.
- Demonstrated success in relationship building, active listening, influencing, negotiating, and time management.
- Knowledge of sales principles, including product promotion, consultative selling, marketing strategies, and customer engagement.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to assess customer needs, provide effective solutions, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
What We Offer
Compensation: This is a salaried exempt role. The starting salary range for this role and market is between $98,000 to $160,000 annually. Factors that may affect starting salary include geography/market and the skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Under the plan, target compensation is anticipated to be 70% base salary and 30% commission. New hires are guaranteed to receive at least the target commission for six months. The competitive compensation plan also includes an uncapped bonus structure based on performance exceeding 100% of the plan across three individual categories. The bonus amount increases as performance surpasses quota, so the potential payout is not fixed and can grow as over-quota achievements increase.
