Collins Aerospace Global Engineering & Technology Center in Puerto Rico is looking for a Project Engineer to support the Power and Controls programs. In this role, you will support engineering activities associated with design, development, qualification, and production support of components in the Power & Controls organization. We are looking for a strong, passionate problem-solver like you with an action-oriented, collaborative mindset who strives to exceed expectations.
This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.
This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.
What YOU will do:
- Liaison between project management, project teams/bid leads, contracts, Business Development and value stream.
- Prepares proposal BOE’s, technical volumes, proposal work statements and specifications, and proposal NRE estimate.
- Develops compliance matrix, estimates, cost sheets and program schedule.
- Monitors and assesses bid preparers efforts across multiple proposals and disciplines.
- Coordinates design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for proposed product research, development, integration, and test.
- Responsible for proposing the procurement of appropriate development hardware used for testing and development.
- Provides input for and creates the integrated master schedule for projects.
- Prepare proposal plans and schedules and coordinate with the Business Acquisition Team (BAT), Chief Engineer and customer.
- Monitor team’s progress in developing/delivering proposals. Identify and remove obstacles to delivering winning proposals that focus on customer satisfaction.
- Provide estimating support for the development of Basis of Estimates to include validating and analyzing actuals, ensuring consistency within task descriptions, and confirming estimating approach is sound.
- Support audits and SWEEP activity
- Manage all EACS Proposals and ensure cognizant PE involvement.
- Coordinate proposal related meetings including kick off’s, technical discussions, gate reviews.
- Track closure and Proposal Metrics
Qualifications you must have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
- Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
- Experience leading and managing multifunction Engineering projects
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Degree in Electrical or Industrial Engineering
- Develop project plans, schedules and budgets for projects and suggest appropriate adjustments to ensure adherence to established project plan, schedule and budget.
- Aerospace or defense project engineering
- Leadership skills to guide cross-functional teams, align members with project goals, and drive progress toward milestones.
- Experience communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including through written reports and verbal presentations. Proven ability to convey project status, risks, and solutions to senior leadership and customers.
- Experience creating clear, concise, and well-structured technical documents, reports, and proposals, including requirements, design details, and testing procedures.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project) skills, with the ability to create detailed reports, presentations, schedules, and project tracking documents.
- Experience as a Cost Account Manager (CAM) or in a similar role managing project budgets, earned value management (EVM), and reporting financial performance in alignment with program goals.
- Agile certification: Scrum Master preferred
- Team Center, ALM Polarium or equivalent
- Hardware and Software product experience
