Position Summary

 

Fabricate thermophotovoltaic (TPV) cells and modules in Antora's cleanroom microfabrication facility. This includes semiconductor device processing, packaging TPV cells into modules, and imaging samples throughout the build process.

 

 

Roles & Responsibilities

 

  • Perform semiconductor device processing in Antora's cleanroom microfabrication facility following process instructions and SOPs. This includes standard semiconductor fabrication steps such as lithography, etching, and deposition.
  • Fabricate and assemble TPV modules following process instructions and SOPs. This includes all cell-to-module integration steps such as die attach, singulation, and pick-n-place. 
  • Capture inspection photos and images at defined checkpoints and maintain sample traceability across process steps.
  • Carefully document processing details throughout device fabrication.
  • Handle fragile wafers, films, and substrates with care throughout the build flow, including mounting, demounting, and transfer steps between tools.
  • Work closely with Antora's engineers and equipment/facilities team to resolve processing or tool-related issues when they arise.
  • Help qualify new fabrication procedures and identify opportunities for tool and process upgrades in order to improve operational efficiency.
  • After training, independently execute processes across the full build flow, from wafer-level cell fabrication through module assembly and final coating, with careful documentation and imaging at every step.
 
Key Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a research or manufacturing device fabrication cleanroom.
  • Experience with the operation of cleanroom equipment, such as: coat and develop tracks, lithography tools, wet benches, thin-film deposition tools, singulation tools, etc.
  • Experience working with acids, bases, and solvents.
  • Strong safety awareness around chemicals, cleanroom hazards, and proper use of PPE.
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision in partnership with Antora's engineers.
  • Meticulousness in following instructions, maintaining organized documentation, and communicating clearly.
  • Skilled in handling delicate samples with care and patience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to admit mistakes and work on continuous improvement.
  • Empathy, sensitivity, and ability to effectively interact with a broad and diverse range of colleagues.
  • Proficiency with using AI tools to accelerate documentation and troubleshooting and ability to critically evaluate AI-generated output.
Additional Qualifications Desired

 

  • Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree in a relevant science or engineering field.
  • Experience with handling and processing of common semiconductor materials and/or devices, ideally including III-V materials (e.g. GaAs, InP, GaN, etc.).
  • Experience with wafer dicing, pick-and-place, wafer bonding, or lamination tools.
  • Familiarity with digital travelers, MES, or electronic lab notebook systems.

 

Work Location:  Onsite - San Jose, CA

Salary Range:  $40/hr - $49/hr

Salary Basis:  Hourly

The actual salary offered will be within the posted range and determined based on several factors including but not limited to a candidate's experiences, credentials and expertise, as they pertain to the position's requirements.
