Accountabilities
- Design, build, and scale backend systems that power AI-driven workflows for processing and analyzing large volumes of complex, unstructured data.
- Take ownership of technical direction within the Submission Processing team, making architectural decisions and driving engineering excellence.
- Develop and maintain LLM-based systems capable of extracting insights, automating workflows, and supporting critical business decisions.
- Build robust, scalable infrastructure using cloud technologies, asynchronous processing patterns, and modern backend engineering practices.
- Lead system design discussions, identify technical challenges, and deliver solutions from concept through production with minimal oversight.
- Improve reliability, performance, and scalability of backend services while maintaining high engineering standards.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand business needs, translate requirements into technical solutions, and deliver measurable customer impact.
- Experiment with new technologies, evaluate approaches, and iterate quickly to solve complex problems that have not been solved before.
- Mentor engineers, contribute to technical culture, and help establish best practices across engineering teams.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong background in backend development and system design.
- Proven experience owning complex technical projects and delivering end-to-end solutions in ambiguous environments.
- Strong programming skills in Python or another object-oriented language, with the ability to write clean, maintainable, production-ready code.
- Hands-on experience building and deploying LLM-powered applications or AI systems in production environments.
- Strong understanding of backend architecture, distributed systems, debugging, scalability, and performance optimization.
- Experience working with AWS services and cloud-based architectures, including technologies such as Lambda, EC2, and serverless workflows.
- Experience designing asynchronous processing systems and working with large-scale data pipelines.
- Solid knowledge of relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL.
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to proactively communicate, manage priorities, and drive initiatives forward.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced environments that require experimentation, rapid learning, and continuous improvement.
- Experience with document processing systems, large-scale data extraction, or AI-driven automation workflows is a plus.
- Competitive salary range of $100,000 – $185,000 USD, depending on experience, performance, and location.
