The Marketing and Communications Director is responsible to implement the resort and the Private island’s Marketing & Communication Strategy, Develop, Monitor and Evaluate it on a yearly basis. Including advertising, promotions, public relations, digital, social media, graphics and collateral, so as to support the marketing objectives for the resort and the Private island and maximize the hotel’s positive exposure in international markets.
Specifically, as Director of Marketing & Communication for Waldorf Astoria Maldives you will perform the following tasks to the highest standards:
Main Duties:
Administration
To implement the Resort and Private Island’s Marketing Communications Strategy (goals, tactics and actions) to achieve and exceed forecasted revenue figures in Rooms, Food and Beverage, Spa and all other revenue generating departments.
To organize and conduct regular departmental marketing communications meetings and ensure departmental briefings and meetings are effective.
To represent the Sales function on the hotel's Executive Committee in the absence of the Commercial Director
Marketing
To establish an annual and fully integrated marketing plan in a detailed calendar, with measurable objectives, strategies and action steps.
To measure, interpret, prioritize and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing communications activities through an ROI analysis and adjust as necessary.
To develop and maintain active contacts with the international press and key media people, and evaluate all media solicitations and exposures.
To monitor all public statements concerning the hotel in foreign media.
To implement new WA standard in the resort and make sure all flyers, documents, email... follow those standard
To ensure all social media identified are well updated and monitored to assure the best positioning in hotel ranking.
To ensure adequate targeted advertising and coverage of the hotel’s positioning, promotional programs, corporate image building and other activities.
To ensure all hotel advertising and collateral (local Food and Beverage, Spa, etc.) are of consistent high standards, and that they comply with our hotel positioning
To recommend and develop partnership with external partners such as credit card companies, luxury brand, banks, department stores, airlines, etc. to support the advertising and sales campaigns.
To Target annual recognized International awards for the Resort and Private island
To closely work with Director of Spa, Director of Performance, Revenue Manager and Food and Beverage Managers to maximize use of the targeted market information including customer profile, behavior, and yield for the planning and evaluation of marketing communications.
Operational
To closely work together with other departments to assess and support their internal and external communications needs.
To establish and maintain the hotel library and photographic image filing
To continuously update press kits.
To welcome, greet and escort all Press fam trip or any media events taking place in the hotel or offsite event
To maintain a perpetual analysis of competitor’s marketing and communication activities in the local market.
To serve as the Webmaster for hotel’s Webpage and Internet related exposure and advertising.
To be aware of community, business, political and social factors that may affect the hotel’s financial performance.
To make sure other Marketing Communications associates work in a supportive and flexible manner with other departments, in a spirit of “We work through Teams”.
Financial
To prepare and conduct an annual marketing & communications budgets, in close cooperation with the Commercial Director including above the line advertising, public relations, sales promotions and publicity etc that will form part of the hotel’s business plan.
To maximize associate productivity through the use of multi-skilling, multi-tasking and flexible scheduling to meet the financial goals of the business
To proactively manage costs based on key performance indicators
To maintain complete records of all media and purchase agreements, contracts and quotes for the hotel.
To ensure that all hotel, company and local rules, policies and regulations relating to financial record keeping, money handling and licensing are adhered to, including the timely and accurate reporting of financial information.
Customer Service
To ensure that Marketing Department deliver the brand/resort promise and provide exceptional guest service at all times, providing positive and constructive feedback as necessary to the respective Head of Department
To handle guest complaints and inquiries on social media in a courteous and efficient manner, following through to ensure problems are resolved satisfactorily. Keeping the respective Head of Department aware.
To develop a culture and personality within the Hotel which encourages unique experiences and care for all parties to be their best.
Colleague Service
Provides courteous and professional collaboration at all times.
To assure a smooth communicate to all associates about hotel Marketing & Communications Strategy.
Personnel
To recruit all Marketing & Communications associates. To follow hotel guidelines when recruiting and use a competency-based approach to selecting associates.
To ensure the punctuality and appearance of all Marketing & Communications associates, making sure that they wear the correct
uniform and maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene, according to the hotel and department’s grooming standards.
To conduct annual Performance Development Discussions and to support Marketing & Communications associates in their professional development goals.
To plan and implement effective training programs for Marketing Communications associates in coordination with the Training Manager and Departmental Trainers to maximize the effectiveness
To encourage associates to be creative and innovative, challenging and recognizing them for their contribution to the success of the operation.
To ensure Marketing Communications associates follow all hotel, company and local rules, policies and regulations relating to fire and hazard safety, and security.
Other Duties
To maintain strong, professional relationships with the relevant representatives from competitor hotels and other organizations.
To respond to changes in the Marketing & Communications function as dictated by the industry, company and hotel.
To attend training sessions and meetings as and when required.
To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.
