Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee routine preventive maintenance for sterilization equipment and facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain critical utility systems that support sterilization operations, including: Steam boilers, Hot water systems, Chilled water systems. Vacuum systems and Nitrogen systems.
  •  Manage maintenance and repairs for the sterilization facility's HVAC, electrical, lighting, and plumbing systems.
  • Coordinate and supervise external contractors performing specialized projects and routine servicing of sterilization equipment and support systems.
  • Serve as Project Manager for New equipment installations, Equipment upgrades, Building improvements and facility upgrades
  • Lead equipment and process validation activities, including IQ (Installation Qualification), OQ (Operational Qualification), PQ (Performance Qualification) and FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing)
  • Develop and author validation protocols and supporting documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement, quality enhancement, and cost reduction initiatives related to sterilization equipment, processes, and facility support systems.
  • Coordinate annual equipment requalification activities to ensure compliance and operational readiness.
  • Plan and manage the facility's two annual plant shutdowns (July and December).
  • Manage budgets related to maintenance, projects, and spare parts inventory.
  • Evaluate and maintain appropriate spare parts inventory levels to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Perform equipment calibration activities as required.
  • Lead and actively participate in the Sterilization Emergency Response Team.
  • Provide after-hours support, including on-call coverage for emergency repairs and weekend issues.
  • Work flexible schedules, including overtime and support during annual plant shutdowns, as business needs require.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, including RCRA Hazardous Waste requirements, EPA regulations, DAQ regulations and DEQ regulations
  • Adhere to BD quality policies, procedures, and best practices through the consistent application of sound quality assurance principles

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Able to read and understand PID, plans, blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams
  • Knowledge and maintenance of Fire alarm systems, BAS (building Automation system), and controls/instrumentation systems (PPM, LEL alarm systems, Lesni/chamber controls, SCADA ect...)
  • Knowledge of electrical classifications and hazardous areas and requirements. 
  • Excellent and proven trouble shooting skills
  • Knowledge of PLC programming (ladder logic)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in engineering and five years’ experience OR
  • Associates Degree and ten years’ experience OR
  • Journeyman in skilled trade with ten years’ experience OR

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Risk Management or Process Safety Management
